Out of curiosity, what type of trade value do you reckon he has? I would love it if Adell carried more trade value, but i struggle to see it right now. And I'm sure if Angels fans are somewhat bullish on Adell, other teams are probably more bullish.

I thought 2022 Moniak was a good comp to 2023 Adell, seeing as both of them are former elite prospects now flirting with the "bust" label, while also showing enough signs of improvement to become a lottery ticket for a rental. Also, Adell seems like a change of scenery guy, much like Moniak has benefited from.

Hader is, like Syndergaard was, a rental. And I'm sure the Padres will be looking for a MLB ready return so they can refocus for 2024.

First off I'd like to say that Minasian absolutely fleeced the Phillies in that deal to get Moniak. So I don't feel it's a good comp for future trades. Syndergaard was very fringe to awful with the Angels last year, so I'm not sure what the Phillies saw in him to give up Moniak. Syndergaard did nothing last year.

Adell should be worth a SP with at least a year of control.

Yes.  He didn’t put the team up for sale for fun.  We’re probably in the last several years of his ownership.

I think he wants to give it another couple of years to try and go out with some good seasons under his belt.  I would be shocked if he owns the team beyond the next 5 years.

the billions will be there when he’s ready to give it up.  He knows that for sure now.

Whether or not he re-signs Ohtani could tell a lot about how much Arte really loves the Angels. Like you said, no matter what, he will profit billions when he sells.

When you really think about it, if we're in Arte's last 5 years, why would he NOT try to re-sign Ohtani and instead worry about what that could cause the state of the organization to be in a decade from now long after he's been owner? It actually makes no sense.

I think Hader would be a perfect fit, the big question is the cost.

Could Adell serve as a centerpiece in a Hader trade?

I feel Adell has rebuilt his value to about where Moniak was in last years Syndergaard deal.

Perhaps Adell and J. Sanchez for Hader?

    Dude... what??

Be nice... Adell has a lot more trade value than this.

Probably wishful thinking.  If he wanted to sell the team for max value, probably should have sold while Ohtani is still on the team.  If Ohtani does leave as a FA, that does negatively impact the team value, I would imagine.

He could give Ohtani 700 million, sell the franchise for 3 billion, and live comfortably. That would totally redeem his legacy.

Minasian just sold his highest value trading chip from the minors, a 20 year old that was jumped a level but is no where near MLB ready. That's not trading from depth, dimwit, that's trading from value. The Angels have no catching depth, if they did Wallach would be gone.

    You are so damn stupid.

I rarely see anyone agree with you. Just Stradling. You're way off-base.

He was awful at SLC.....you can trash Fletcher but he went down and raked....Whatever the reason, Walsh just isn't the guy from 20-21....tough deal but it is a results business....

I wasn't surprised when he did nothing upon returning. They literally rushed him back so fast. Long before he was going to be ready if so. After hearing about neurological conditions for the past year plus it's really not surprising he lost his hand-eye coordination.

  7. So some people think the team should trade for offensive improvement, when the offense is already a powerhouse in their mind. Oh, and grab like 3 pitchers too.

Take out the Colorado game and this team has a negative run differential.

So we really gotta improve on our catching position that has overperformed offensively this season compared to the last 2 decades of Angels catching.

    Got it.

I'm gonna weigh in here...it's not Wallach's production I'm worried (well, it's a small part) about when I say we need a catcher. It's the depth that I'm worried about.

When O'Hoppe is back, Wallach gets waived. Probably claimed. Say something happens to O'Hoppe or Thaiss (or even Okey) in September. The Angels are competing or better yet, make the playoffs. Anthony Mulrine? Zach Humphreys? Scramble to see which vet catcher is sitting around without a job and get him up to speed with the staff? Even if nothing like that happens, rolling into the stretch run on the backs of a a kid who has less than 100 MLB PAs coming off shoulder surgery and a guy who has less than 1,000 innings of MLB catcher experience seems like a recipe for...not disaster, but, maybe a Josh Paul-level blunder that could have been avoided. O'Hoppe hasn't even started a rehab yet.

I'll admit it's an unlikely scenario, but it's a highly specialized and critical position where the Angels have no depth, a position that is rarely available to add to in August and September, and a need that should be able to be filled relatively cheaply now. It's hardly unusual for playoff teams to grab vet catchers this time of year for exactly this reason, why shouldn't the Angels do the same? We're super fortunate Thaiss and Wallach held up as long as they did.

Snag someone like Gomes or Barnhart, waive Wallach now (who knows, maybe we sneak him to AAA or if not, have two months to find another AAA guy), and roll with 3 catchers when O'Hoppe returns and proves healthy. Thaiss can take Escobar's 1B/3B PAs if need be.

You're banking on this September catcher injury and I gotta say, it's kinda awkward. Dude, if shit hits the fan, I'm a million times more fine with Okey over Wallach/Thaiss (I mean, both suck defensively anyway) than I am with Velazquez over Neto. What if Neto gets injured again? Trade for a shortstop.

You play out the rest of the season from this point assuming no one will get injured and you fill the biggest needs from there. Catcher ain't one of them. Pitching, pitching, pitching.

Wanna really play it safe? Trade for Goldschmidt and get Cabbage off the roster since he doesn't belong here.

No. But you comparing Trout’s slump to Wallach’s slump says a lot about you. One is an inner circle HOFer the other is a career .197 hitter with 10 career homers. Also if we are going to make a run improve the team, catcher is one of those places you can improve as is starting pitching and relief pitching.

I didn't compare Trout to Wallach. Just pointing out how I think your brain works.

I told you that Wallach hasn’t had a hit in 6 weeks, which is context, but you chose to ignore that.  I shared my own opinion, sorry again because I am constantly rubbing you the wrong way. You can find my opinions all over this board, remember you gave me shit for the number of posts I have.

Yeah and keep pretending that Wallach had another 6 week stretch this season without a hit.

Do you know what he was hitting before that? Well over .200? With 6 homers?

You're worried about a 2nd string catcher that isn't hitting when the whole lineup has been generally bad at hitting for large stretches of time this season. The whole entire offense has a terrible approach with RISP and you're sitting there worried about hitting at the catching position.

I'm sure you wanted Trout traded after his 0-26 last year, didn't ya.
