Thank you for justifying with RT.   I am a firm believer that 3 out of 4 people walking the planet, and able to use a keyboard, are idiots.   Of course here the number skews a little higher.

Now all the family members have boycotted the show and threatening not to return. They are standing behind Phil since they feel A&E have punished him for his constitutional right. Jeff S is correct above. A&E should have just put out a disclaimer that the show doesn't agree with Phil's views and just moved on. This is what all of Phil's sponsors did.
 
A&E already knew how Phil viewed gays. He preaches in his community against the gay lifestyle. There are even videos of him doing it. So A&E sets him up with an interview to GQ knowing this subject would probably come up. Now they are acting all shocked and appalled that he stayed true to his views?! I'm not buying it. If A&E really had a problem with Phil's views, they would have never let him on the show. A&E have put themselves in a tough corner. They risk losing the highest rated cable show EVER over this. Now if they lift Phil's ban, it's going to look like they chose money over principle.

I was going to add my two cents before I read Mancini's perfect summary.

Phil hasn't been comfortable with the show from the beginning but stuck with it because of Ms Kay. He was already planning to leave the show after this season. He's also battled with A&E about how they portray the family (i.e. A&E wanted to add "bleeps" to make it look like they were cussing, Phil wasn't having it). We are talking about a guy who turned down the NFL to pursue education and start his hunting career. Guy doesn't want the limelight. Why anyone cares what his personal views are is beyond me. Phil is a typical mid America red neck that happened to strike it rich and TV found him. I would be shocked if he spoke highly of the gay lifestyle. Boycotting the show won't do anything, most of the viewers don't care. Looking at their demographic, it might boost ratings.
