Why?
He got Marte to shore up his outfield - Piscotty and Brown are out of the mix now.
And the Marlins are paying Marte's salary!! He continues to get more value for less than anyone in baseball.

Would you trade Adell straight up for Luzardo?
Trade 5 years of Adell for Luzardo? Hell no.
But I would definitely trade two months of Starling Marte for Luzardo.

Gotta love Billy Beane...

A's, Mariners and Cleveland all lost. We're 5 back, tied with Cleveland.
We're still buyers!!

We could have used Pujols at first base tonight...
And a lot of the other nights against Lefty's.

But he is only hitting .222 over the last 30 days, and .188 over the last two weeks.
He had a great June, but now sadly the goose is cooked.
But he's hitting .400 over the last 7 days. The goose is back!

I don't get it. Trade Graveman for a backup at 3B? What is the second move here?

Gosselin is batting .294
And .359 versus Leftys.

Or Heaney could get something similar but elevated to what the Pirates got for Tyler Anderson. Not much.

I think the Angels will go with some variation of option 1. They are going to make a run for the wild card.

Maybe there is a trade market for Andrew Heaney.

Yep. I just checked it.
2.27.

He's our 2nd best SP prospect. Arguably our best.
At the time I thought he could help us more in relief this year and then we could stretch him out next year. I like the idea of the right type of young starter coming out of the pen and then transitioning to the rotation.
And now with Ohtani, Sandoval, Suarez, Barria, Cobb, Heaney and Detmers we have a seven deep rotation but still need help in the pen.
If Cobb and Heaney are traded things change but I have a feeling at least one of them stays.

Yes. He's a physical player and a really nice guy. I very much enjoyed interviewing him.
As for his defense, he definitely is a corner player. I haven't seen him throw enough to see if he would make a good RFer, and have only seen him in left.
Thanks. Great interview by the way. He looked comfortable and at ease with the conversation.

Bachman is not going to help out this year.
You are just dreaming with that.
And Yan is not close to being ready as he has struggled at high A.
Rodriguez might be an option but he's still questionable on how much he would be able to help as a reliver considering his innings limit and arm issues earlier on in the year.
I agree. Yan is not ready yet but he looked awesome this week so he's in front of mind. I still think he'll end up as a late innings guy though.
I absolutely think Rodriguez should not have been stretched out in AA/AAA. He struggled tonight in SLC. He could be a bullpen piece.
Bachman, who knows? not us.

It is a pipe dream unless they bring in some bullpen help.
No way they make any kind of run with how bad this bullpen is outside Iglesias.
Bullpen help could come from within - Rodriguez, Bachman, Yan.

I fucking love the intensity Brandon Marsh brings. Dude is going to be awesome for this team.

True, but will he be eating a nutritious meal after the game?
Taco Bell.

I'm liking Waltz more and more.
His end of inning call of Marsh's nonchalant catch up against the wall was "Whew!!".
Nice. He said what I was feeling.

Can any of you wrap your head around the possibility that he didn’t do anything criminal and is losing his career for being kinky and nailing the wrong psycho?
He won’t pitch this year and probably never for the Dodgers again. But if he isn’t charged he’s too good for nobody to deal with the baggage.
Yeah, I think he will definitely pitch again if he isn't charged.

So you think 5 years of Luzardo is equal to 5 years of Adell? I don't. Luzardo?
I think it is a good trade for both teams.
The A's are going for it. This year. Marte will take all those useless PA's away from Piscotty and Brown. And with the A's payroll constraints he found a way to not add payroll. He actually reduced it because he'll get rid of an Ofer now.
The Marlins were going to lose Marte anyway so maybe they get someone who can help down the road a little. Luzardo is not very good.
