Seeing Warren family excitement that's what this game is all about.
I agree. Any parent who has coached their kid through little league/pony league and supported them through travel ball and into High School and then as far as the game takes them can identify with the Warren family.
Very cool.

Schwarber to first now for them but Ward could have played some first vs. Lefties.
CWS could use some OF depth. MIL probably. SFG - Alex Dickerson has turned into a pumpkin. Every one of their OF's is LHed.
He's got an .845 ops vs. LHers this year. And a 100 ops+ overall. Right now he's a league avg hitter who can play multiple positions.
you might not like him but he's not horrible. Just what he is.
I have always rooted for Taylor Ward and at this point I hope we can get something, anything, for him in a trade. I just don't see a future for him here. He's our #7 outfielder and if he's still with the team next year he'll most likely be a 28 year old MiLB player or DFA'd.

first I looked at was BOS. Dalbeck and Marwin Gonzalez suck. So yeah. there's at least one.
Nope.
Dalbeck is a first baseman. He's never played a game in the OF.
Gonzalez. As we know, he can play multiple positions but has only had 9 starts in the OF this year.
Jarren Durran is their 4th outfielder right now. 24 year old CF'er out of LB State. 15 HR's in AAA this year before being called up. The Red Sox would not trade Durran for Ward straight up so why would Ward be an option in Boston?

I like Ward, but pretty sure this is his last option year, so he is not going to make it next season.
He still has 2 waiver options.

Marte is a great addition for the A's. Damn it.
It allowed them to move Laureano to Right and keep Canha in left. And it keeps Piscotty (.207) and Brown (.199) on the bench.
And Billy Beane got the Marlins to pay Marte's salary because his owner wouldn't.
The team I hate the most, our natural rival, got better this week.

How stuck up is this guy that he refers to himself in the 3rd person?

Go ahead and pretend he has no value.
I think you are pretending he has value to any team over the next 18 hours.
He was an 84 ERA+ pitcher who was demoted to AAA this month, has a history of elbow problems and is now on the IL. Who is trading for that tonight?
Canning, I hope, will regroup and earn a rotation spot next year but his 2021 season is toast.

If he had the upside and 4 years of control, yea, probably. Trade simulator has him at 19.

This is not a good take. His trade value is pretty damn good.
Maybe next year, not tonight and tomorrow morning...

Do you seriously believe this?
Yes.
If you were a GM would you trade for an average pitcher who was demoted to AAA, has a history of elbow injuries and is now on the IL in AAA?

Canning has a 100 ERA+ in his career. He isn't trash.
True, he's not trash, but he has absolutely zero trade value right now. He had an 84 ERA+ this year, was demoted to AAA, got lit up for 6 runs in 2 IP in his first start in SLC and went on the IL where he still resides.
No team is trading for him right now...
-
Ward? Trading for a rental because Ward is sent packing? Really? Why do some still think Ward is a viable option here?
Ward will be traded because he has absolutely no value for the Angels. He is a 27 year old minor league outfielder who ranks as our #7 Outfielder. So any warm body we can get for him is worth it at this point. Even with options we don't need him clogging up the process in SLC next year.

Am I wrong when I say it comes down to where Scherzer wants to be rather than who has the best deal? He doesn’t have to waive his 10-5 rights.

I wonder if Cishek might be better if he had been used 30 times instead of 50 times so far?
I think he would be 20 games better.

I couldn't tell you when the last time was that the Angels had a better catcher than Stassi...
Maybe Mike Napoli in 2009 or Brian Downing in 1979 but Stassi is much better defensively than either one of those guys.

.937 OPS for Stassi!
Did not see this one coming.

Did you guys know that Gallo, Harper, and Kris Bryant grew up together in Vegas? Little known fact that doesn’t get talked about nationally
Had not heard that before. Do you have details? BR shows three different HS's and different USSSA travel ball ages.
Did they play travel ball together?

But what does the almighty trade evaluator say?
Who cares...That thing is about as accurate as the magic 8 ball.

I love Marte but that is an expensive rental!
Not really. Marlins are paying Marte's salary.
And Luzardo is really bad now. He had a 59 ERA+, was demoted to the pen, demoted to AAA and is struggling with Las Vegas with a 6.52 ERA and fewer than 4 IP per start. He is basically the A's Dylan Bundy but with options.
Think he was no longer in the A's plans moving forward. Maybe the change of organizations will help - then again, it's the Marlins.

So Beane won the trade and lost the trade?
Something doesn't add up here.
Who said he won and he lost? It is absurd to assign winners and losers to a trade on day 1.
I think the trade was good for both teams. It's in line with their current team objectives. I see why both teams would do this. If you can't, well...

So would you trade 5 years of Adell for two months of anyone?
No, I don't think I would. But these GM's don't make decisions in black and white, it's always gray.
