  1. In general I’m overly optimistic about my teams. So as usual I was in denial until about two weeks after the AllStar break. Then reality hit me. But being optimistic just accepted the situation for what it was and continued to follow to see what Ohtani and the young kids will do the rest of the way. Being the gullible sports idiot that I am, I’m hopeful about next year (as long as there is a season with the expiring CBA). Fingers crossed we’ll have a season next year

People take defense for granted.  That play by Marsh looked effortless and yet, because of how deep Trout usually plays I doubt he reaches that ball -- balls in on the OF are where he tends to "struggle" defensively.  I know it's heresy to say this in the eyes of many but the best OF alignment next year (IMO), really would be Trout/Marsh/Adell, from left to right.   It may ever help keep Trout on the field more.

Tommy Pham ...  just did his best Angels defense impersonation..   A plus..  Oscar worthy performance.

Completely agree, would love to see next year OF be from left to right, Trout/Marsh/Adell.

  3. It's definitely been a rough year but as a lifelong Halos fan I can say, I've had worse years, for sure.

For me, what's more hopeful this year as opposed to other bad years are the young players that are actually getting a chance to play (The pitchers, Adel and Marsh).

In my mind, if Trout, Rendon come back healthy and we resign Iglesias then add a couple of pieces we're good.

  4. It's unfortunate that' Trout's body is already breaking down, each year he seems to be out for longer periods of time than the previous year for what seems like the last 3 years. Hopefully he'll be healthy enough by the start of spring training (Fingers crossed).

But who knows when Spring training is going to start with the expiring CBA the delay will probably work in our favor.

Ohtanii really isn't a leadoff man. 150 + ks, easier to pitch to in the first with no one ever on base. His stealing percentage is not that good even with his speed. He is a run producer, more disciplined with men on base.

Fletcher is good at one or two. Preferably two where his bat control can facilitate a hit and run style approach. Not sure about Marsh leading off yet. Possibly, but he's still early on a learning curve. Fletcher lead off by default if Marsh isn't ready.

I'd have Trout third, as he is still the best combination of OPS and production when healthy followed by Ohtani cleanup. And Rendon, who is a versatile hitter when healthy and in sync. Then Walsh, who has lost his power stroke. To be determined who he really is until the season is over.  Adell, Stasi or Stasi ,Adell depending on who is hotter at any given time   and whoever (Iglesias again?) is at short at the bottom.

Of course the lineups against left/right and other game to game variables, allows different mixes.

I'll buy that. I like the logic.

I’m ready for Marsh to lead-off.  Has a .320. OBP with the ability to steal and be a menace on the base paths.  Keep Fletcher hitting 2nd and move Ohtani to 3rd.

    2022 line-up

    Marsh

    Fletcher

    Ohtani

    Trout

    Walsh

    Rendon

    Upton/Adell

    Stassi

    FA SS

Are we sure Rendon and Trout will be healthy enough to play next year.............

Reminds me of Fred Lynn that guy was always hurt

Rotation: Ohtani, Sandoval, DeSclafani, Cobb, Detmers, and Barria

Pen: Iglesias, FA setup man, Warren, CRod, Suarez, Wantz, Marte, and Tyler

Remaining money for backup catcher and trade for Miguel Rojas

This seem realistic, I like it.

CRod seems to me like he belongs in the pen (I wonder if he can stay healthy but isn't that the case with this whole team).
