Saw Bob Oliver crush a deep homer late in an extra inning game in '72 with Bobby Winkles managing. Oliver's homer was the deepest fly I saw until Alex Rodriguez came along and routinely crushed bombs again us.

Jon Gray is a hard thrower which is what the Angels typically go after. Also they don’t need two more starters. With Sandoval, Suarez, Barria, Detmers, Canning, Naughton, and Junk… plus other minor league guys on their way up… they’ll be fine with one more add.
So which three starters do you want in a playoff series?

I think the market is in just as much denial as you are and someone with break the $30 million year baseline. I don't want the Angels to be his retirement fund for 3 years.
Sign Scherzer and enjoy the ride. It's not our money... and just like Arte, none of us is getting any younger

Arte isn't the GM.
Unless he sees a FA that will bring in gate, then he tells the GM to jump.

if i was minasian and i was bidding for the same player, i would make a point to talk about the clubhouse. some things about dipoto are up for debate, but it's an indisputable fact that there are always questions and disharmony between the FO and the clubhouse. that is one of the areas i could take advantage of to create separation between the offers.
Mariners manager Scott Servais has been Jerry DiPoto's guy for 10 years, including his stint as Angels' Asst. GM. Do spill the beans on the Seattle clubhouse issues. We love good gossip.

If Noah can pitch half as good as he talks shit we have a stud in the rotation.

Agreed. Can we have nice things too?

It's good to read non bias takes and opinions. It's from a reputable website too. I posted another Q & A in the Trout thread.
There are no such thinks as non biased takes. That is code for the opinions presented don't piss me off.

Meh, it’s Roger Lodge.
Yeah, he's no Bob Rowe.

That report fires me up! To hear the respect of a GM that is passionate, quick to the draw, and knowledgeable is GREAT!

I’d still take Stroman over Ray because I don’t like the idea of 4 lefties in the rotation.
I'll either because I like the idea of improving our SP.

Desperate is one take but I say this was resourceful. Sometimes the bar isn’t over flowing with super models. Sometimes you have to find the skinniest chubby girl that is ready to bang. Yes we could have saved our beer money for next weekend but the goal was to bang now.
Casey, I'm just betting you're divorced one or more times.

Liked Ervin but his MLB debut was pretty ragged. Gave up "the cycle" to the first 4 Cleveland Indian batters. Watched on the hospital TV while waiting for granddaughter #3 to be born.

best off season ever.
For me the '76-77 off season was the best. Signings of free agents Joe Rudi, Don Baylor and Bobby Grich gave the long suffering fans a huge boost.

A pitcher with two innings pitched the past two seasons, plus generally TJS pitchers pitch okay their first season back. They spent $21 million for probably just okay.
Can anyone name a TJS pitcher in the past who had a season worthy of anywhere nears $21 million in today’s dollars?
Hey AO! Stop pissing in my Cheerios.

I really do think this is a crucial time for us, the Astros are still great, the A's are on the downturn but still have a history of having surprisingly good seasons despite everyone counting them out, the Mariners won 90 games last year and are clearly on the come-up and willing to spend, and Texas is perhaps a couple of seasons away from being where Seattle is. Really worried if we don't spend our way out of our consistent 3rd-4th place spot this year we could remain there for quite some time still...
I agree. But still I wonder, how did Cub fans handle their futility for years?

Canning, Canning, Canning
Dude was drafted 4.5 years ago from a major college baseball program, and still hasn’t accomplished a whole lot yet. When does that start?
I'm okay with Canning starting for another team. Tired of the tease.
