Typical Yankee prospect. They draft him, overhype him, then trade him to some sucker. Then that sucker finds another sucker to pawn him off to.
-
They should have a Norm Cash bobblehead, with him swinging a table leg, as a complimentary piece to go with the Ryan bobblehead.

Modern baseball approach is to swing for the fences. Exit velocity, distance, etc etc
Real baseball is fading away.
That is why they can't win.

Since Sosh left I have seen angel hitters try to bunt less than 10 times. Only 2 times have I seen a good bunt layed down. It is like they never practice bunting. Which brings the question, WHY?

Get the best player available. None of the signing a lesser guy cause he will take less money crap.

It's all on Arte. He makes the final decision on everything. He has put a stench on everything in baseball ops. Free agents, drafts, and development. I don’t see any way to rid the org of that stench until he sells.

Orioles just dfa'd Ryan McKenna. Victim of roster crunch and out of options. Could be a good pickup, doubt the Angels have enough for a trade.

He certainly assured it by his managing.
Agree. But it showed zero confidence in him from the outset. That is not what an org should convey. All because of Arte's announcement of selling the team and then reneging.

Haha. The clubhouse culture falls on the manager. Not getting the most out of your players falls on the manager. Nevin failed at both, which is why he isn’t here anymore.
I think Nevin knew he was only going to be here for just that one season, regardless.

Irony is Pillar and Calhoun hitting well.
Starting pitching hasn’t been bad lately.
Now if only there was a bullpen and not the Great Arson Squad.
Last night i was calling them the "Bomb Squad".

Have heard he is not much of a baseball fan.

Only thing different is this is now a 60 something win team versus a 70 something win team. Yet, they are working hard to make it a 50 something win team.

Estevez will probably be the next guy to go on the IL with some phantom injury.

He won't sell. If he didn't take the offer where he retained 10% and got a $3 Billion Valuation, he's not leaving.
So...maybe sell 10% of the team for $300 Million to someone to run the team and the show.
Your scenario is not correct.

It always starts at the top. Until Arte sells, nothing will change.

Throwing mostly fastballs to a team that strikes out only 10% of the time. Hmmm.

Yeah, I'd never heard of him until now, either...

This along with Paris and Beer Belly Guillarme must mean Perry throwing shit against the wall to see what sticks.

Any chance you might be merging memories of two games? I found this one from 1961 where the Pirates beat the Dodgers 4-2 on HRs from Skinner and Maz, but Moon didn't do much that game:

Only game i ever went to at the Coliseum. The year might have been off. I would have been only 7 or 8. Moon's hr was over the screen. Skinner & Maz's hr's were hit to left center. Even then i rooted against the Dog's.

1960 Dodgers vs Pirates at the Coliseum. Pirates win 4-2. Dodgers scored both runs on a Wally Moon moonshot over the lf screen. Pirates had 2 2-run hr's by Bob Skinner & Bill Mazeroski.

The thing about the 80’s and 90’s was that there wasn’t an expectation of winning and so the losing wasn’t as big of a disappointment.
The last 15 years have been singularly the worst because they spent enough to win, there was an expectation of winning and they simultaneously had two of the greatest players ever in the lineup and they still lost. Every time it has been a disappointment and now we’re left with a fan base that expects the worst.
Two tragic unexpected deaths. Uniforms 20 years outdated? Stick with it. Need a new stadium? Nope. Relocate? No. Need to rebuild the farm? Never.
The 80'sup to 86, there was an expectation to win. In 82 they were up 2-0 against the Brewers in the playoffs and lost. In 86 i felt they were the best team in baseball, but the Donnie Moore pitch to Dave Henderson ended that. There were times that they had a former all star at most every position except pitcher.

What’s the smart thing to do with Anderson?

If you can't get a really good return at the deadline keep him and try to deal him in the offseason.
