  1. I hope they stay away from trading with teams that have farm systems similar to ours, Cough, cough Yankees, cough. And guys like Anderson, Canning, Sandoval have another year of control, that should bring back much more than someone like Drury who is on an expiring contract. I would probably trade only one of those 3 starters at the deadline unless the return was so go that Tdawg would need some bunk time.

  2. As a fan who has followed this team since its inception in 61, i have never seen fan's looking at this team with such negativity. In the 60's,the teams were understandably poor. But those teams could at least pitch and play good defense. They just couldn't hit. Today, this team looks like  a really bad expansion team. They can't hit, pitch, or play defense. The negativity today incorporates every aspect of the organization. Jeff Fletcher's multi piece article he did about a year ago was a really good illustration of the slow detering of the Angels as a whole. Currently, i don't see the negativity dissipating in the near future. The only way i see this organization climbing out of this whole is for the team to be sold. There will not be any optimism until Arte bails. If and when that happens, that is when a shift from the negativity to optimism can start.

  3. I have no interest in paying good money to watch a team that couldn't win in a beer league game. I was in Huntington Beach a month or so ago for a funeral. It took me 2 hours just to get to Riverside, and 3 hours total to get home. If they were actually competitive, I would have no problem dealing with traffic to watch a game. Until they are competitive, I am staying home.

I agree that it's hard to accurately judge a GM until 5 to 6 years after his first draft.

I remember so many Angel fans hating Bill Stoneman, but now he's remembered as arguably the best GM they've ever had.

This july will be his 5th draft. Currently, all but AA are in last place in their divisions. AA is in next to last place. And the Angels are about to drop to last place. Aside from a half dozen guys in the minors, there isn't much talent. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make it till the end of the season.

Anyone else think it’s weird when guys go off for a couple years into a contract year then they get paid and can’t produce or stay healthy? Rendon. Jayson Werth. Josh Hamilton. Many more. Anyone know what would cause that?

Injuries are one thing, but as far as the guys who all of a sudden can"t produce it is previous success that can be their downfall. I was told by someone in MLB 40 plus years ago that when guys make it to free agency and then receive a contract of 4 years or more players have basically set themselves up for life. The contract money and being guaranteed a pension takes the anxiety out of their life. Now having loads of money, it is common for them to now worry about life after baseball. How to invest the money. Then they get married and have kids, start business projects, etc. Now the other stuff can become a distraction. Marriage and kids and business projects bring along new responsibilities making it harder to stay focussed. In other words, life sometimes gets in the way.
