  1. "The PolitiFact rulings on these and other similar statements depended on their phrasing, but none was rated entirely True. Knowing how Congress comes up with its federal budget helps to explain why. Since the passage of the Congressional Budget Act of 1974, the Senate and the House are supposed to pass budget resolutions in the spring. These budget resolutions set a framework for spending, taxation and other fiscal items in the coming fiscal year. They also lay out general plans for the next four years. If these budget resolutions differ, the chambers are supposed to hammer out a compromise." ..."For fiscal year 2003, the Senate, under Democratic control in 2002, failed to pass a budget resolution of any kind. For fiscal 1999, 2005 and 2007, the House and Senate failed to reconcile their different bills and pass a compromise measure. In these latter three cases, the Republicans were in the majority in both chambers of Congress. See, it's always bad when the other guys do it.
  2. Boenher can't seem to open his mouth without spouting a lie: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2013/mar/04/john-boehner/house-speaker-john-boehner-says-obama-democrats-ha/
  3. Holy cow, we finally had a starter not give up a run? Whoo hoo!
  4. No, the other other Silva... Wanderlei.
  5. Dammit, missed the fights last night.
  6. Bases loaded no outs, we get one run. Bring on the regular season, we're ready!
  7. It's kind of funny talking about saving money with Trout - around $200K - when Wells and Hamilton are making a combined $45 million plus. I'd guess that on the Trout promotional days at the stadium alone the team will make up any extra contract expense. I don't think it really matters much, but acting like it's some great savings to the team is ridiculous.
  8. Turkey burgers and cauliflower. Might treat myself to a beer after my daughter falls asleep.
  9. I haven't read much of this thread but I'm glad I found this post.
  10. Did anybody else notice the end of the article? Shock treatment If you saw a television interview of Jered Weaver after his two-inning, one-run, two-hit, two-strikeout effort in Friday's 16-8 exhibition win over the Dodgers, no, the Angels ace didn't have a nervous twitch or first-game jitters. He was using a new H-wave electronic device that stimulates muscles and nerves to promote circulation and range of motion but causes the shoulder to twitch rather violently. "I'm like a guinea pig with this new contraption," said Weaver, who has been slowed by occasional bouts of shoulder tendinitis. "It's like an electronic massage machine. It's supposed to knock out inflammation and replace ice. We'll see how it works." I want one of those. I was in Vegas a few weekends ago and got a sample from one of the cheap knockoffs, and it was really cool.
  11. For some reason I thought this was Bonnie Tyler and I was prepared to make a "Total Eclipse of the Heart" joke. Damn.
  12. I look forward to some other team picking him up and then having him shut us down for a few innings later this year.
  13. But he said Detroit so he has to mean Detroit!
  14. Vern says "eff you, Glen and all the haters!"
  15. That's why Aybar is a potential clubhouse leader.
