  1. I'm not too worried yet, but I would feel a bit better if our sucky team ERA wasn't at the absolute bottom of the league, and by such a margin.
  2. Yay, semantics! "Taking away" implies that there is something to be taken. Now, if you were to say "the want to restrict what types of guns we can buy!" then you have a semantically valid argument, but that doesn't get people nearly as fired up as the "taking away" thing does.
  3. Man, that's tough. I have a hunch that Dipoto is on Bourjos' side but Scioscia has a...preference for veterans. If the team is doing well Bourjos will probably get more slack, as in a month. After that...Wells is waiting to pop up and hit late-inning HRs that cut the other team's lead to seven instead of eight.
  4. Don't you think that "well-regulated" and "shall not be infringed" at least somewhat contradict each other? And as I said, I support the second amendment. I don't think it's going anywhere. Have any of your guns been taken away?
  5. Yeah. I've wanted Conger to be the catcher of the future for a while now but he isn't cutting it with his D. It seems like his throws are getting worse.
  6. It'll be interesting to see if he improves on whatever team he's on next.
  7. That pitch to Bourjos was right down the middle, but man he had a good swing on it. Anybody else getting worried about Trumbo? He looks the same as he did when he was lost last year.
  8. Jose called out Kendrick in the first inning and then backed off. Said Kendrick hitting a ground ball on a 1-0 count when Bourjos had a great jump for a stolen base is why he's a bad #2 hitter. I was all "yeah, you tell 'em, Jose!" and then he said he's a good #2 hitter but not a great one.
  9. I'm calling it now: just another halo spring loss.
  10. I'm calling it now: Cordero isn't making the team.
  11. We're already in midseason form for wasting leadoff runners.
  12. If Bourjos was sucking ass in spring so far, would you be saying "ah, it's just spring"? I agree spring stats are not much to base expectations on. However, it's still good to see him not struggling, even if it is only spring. Pardon me for being a bit optimistic.
  13. People who support the second amendment - well, let me rephrase that because I support the second amendment - the avid second amendment people, as in the "cold dead hands" type, seem to ignore the words "well regulated" in said amendment.
  14. There's a lot of cynicism in the world, especially in religion and politics, but that simple statement from Portman was moving. Of course I agree with him so it makes it easier to take, but I still liked the eloquence and compassion for his son.
  15. No worries, we have Ryan Matthews. This is his year! Seriously though...wouldn't have minded having Jackson but as somebody else mentioned, not sure how much he has left in the tank.
  16. Steve Buscemi needs a little more airbrushing in that poster.
  17. I have a feeling Conger isn't going to be a part of the Angels future after this year.
  18. ST stats are a double-edged sword. For an established player you try not to put too much weight on bad performance in spring but you'll always wish for better. You also don't get too excited when they perform well because it's expected. But yeah, it's good that Bourjos is doing well so far. Be honest, if he was stinking up the joint you wouldn't be saying "ah, it's just spring training." A good performance is certainly reason for at least a bit of cautious optimism.
  19. Where did you get that one from? I couldn't find it.
  20. 57% but there was one answer I wanted to change to the correct one so it should have been 5/7. **** auto insurance.
  21. For Pete's sake (see what I did there) I hope he gets off to a fast start during the regular season. But yeah, he's looked good in spring. Let's hope that carries over.
  22. We need a gif thread. It would have to have the Mathis clip, the Aybar dance ( ), Aybar swinging at a ball that hits him in the nuts, and others.
  23. I have my Reggie story too. Went to my first Angels game in 82, got to the stadium early and I was so excited. Me and my friend saw Reggie Jackson getting out of his car so we jogged over to get his autograph. When he saw the two of us coming he went back to his car and grabbed some stuff from his trunk. He looked at us and said "sorry, hands are full, can't sign autographs" and walked away. Yeah, he was something of a dick. That said, I still appreciate a good business deal like the one he made (although that might have been more his agent than him).
