  1. Still comfortable with the pen but 3 (maybe 4) solid prospects gone. I would've preferred to see them traded for at least a starter so we could move Santiago to the pen. Street has never been an elite reliever and never will be. He's solid but nowhere near worth giving up multiple of our top prospects for
  2. Yes I was comfortable with the way the pen was and knowing that we have Bedrosian and Alvarez ready to be called up
  3. The thing is I would have done the Frieri deal over this. We didn't need another reliever
  4. Who made this trade for the padres? How can a team make trades without a GM?
  5. That would make this trade a ridiculous amount better
  6. Is it too late for someone to not pass the physical
  7. The prospect we're getting better be good
  8. Terrible we could have used a starter much more than another bullpen piece
  9. I don't like the idea of trading anything of value for a reliever, there's too much variability from year to year. As far as I'm concerned there's only a few guys who qualify as proven shutdown guys such as Kimbrel and Mariano when he was pitching. Also I hate how the "closer" label instantly adds so much value. Had Joe Smith racked up 30 saves last year with all the same numbers his contract would be very different right now.
  10. Do we really need a proven closer? Joe Smith has been as shut down as it gets as of late
  11. Is the difference between Jepsen(the way he's been pitching lately)/Morin in the 7th vs. Smith large enough to give up solid minor leaguers for Street? I like what we have now with Thatcher/Morin/Jepsen matching up in the 6th and 7th innings. Salas could be upgraded but I don't think it's worth giving up anything of worth for
  12. I actually like the way the pen is set up right now. Grilli and Smith 8/9 has been solid and I like Rasmus as the long man with Jepsen in the 7th. Salas is the only guy I don't trust right now out of the pen but I don't feel that we need to replace him with Street badly enough to give up solid minor leaguers. If anything I would go after a second lefty but I say stand pat
  13. How about bringing back Scott Downs for close to nothing. He still gets lefties out. Also stick Santiago in the pen to be a long man/ second lefty Then trade for Street and our bullpen would be pretty solid Street Smith Morin Frieri Downs Jepsen Santiago
  14. Let's be realistic Kendrick and Aybar do NOT suck. They are average to slightly above average players at their positions. That being said I'd like to see a Howie for Stroman centered trade. Lineup I want to see by the end of the year: 1. Calhoun RF 2. Trout CF 3. Pujols 1b 4. Hamilton LF 5. Cron DH 6. Freese 3b 7. Conger C 8. Green 2b 9. Aybar SS Ianetta, McDonald, Shuck, Ibanez
  15. Call up Morin and Sisk. Release Jep and send Jose Alvarez back down. If Jose or Shoemaker look like they're capable of taking the 5 spot in the rotation, that would help the bullpen by allowing Santiago to be put in the pen. Frieri Smith Santiago Kohn Morin Sisk Salas
  16. Serious question: what's the status of Burnett? We need him badly. Also I thought Sosh said we wouldn't go with a long man in the pen; I'm not a fan of Shoemaker. Our bullpen should be: Frieri Smith Kohn Rasmus De La Rosa Jepsen Maronde
  17. Braves have their issues with Medlen and Beachy out for the year. Then they have Minor and Ervin who won't be ready until mid-April. On top of that, they just released Freddy Garcia. As of now their rotation looks like this: Teheran Alex Wood David Hale Gus Schosser No fifth starter. They're going to need more depth badly if they're going to compete this year. Hale and Wood will be on inning caps as well. If we eat close to all of Blanton's salary, we might actually be able to get something for him. We've already dealt with the Braves a few times the past couple years. I would love a Blanton for Joey Terdoslovic trade. He would round out our bench nicely as a better fielding, less power version of Trumbo.
  18. Im sure Green has the ability to play some first as does Calhoun, so there's no point in keeping Pena. Only problem is I can't see a situation where Shuck doesn't make the team. I would like for Cowgill to make it, but just don't see us carrying 2 outfielders who are essentially of the same mold. Conger, Green, McDonald, Shuck
  19. I'd look at the out of option players who don't make their club. There are some decent depth pieces there: Esmil Rogers Carlos Carrasco Jacob Turner Brad Hand Zach Britton Stolmy Pimentel Scott Diamond Vance Worley
  20. 1. Calhoun RF 2. Trout CF 3. Pujols 1b 4. Hamilton LF 5. Kendrick 2b 6. Ibanez DH 7. Freese 3b 8. Ianetta C 9. Aybar SS Conger, Green, Shuck, Cowgill 1. Weaver 2. Wilson 3. Richards 4. Skaggs 5. Santiago Frieri Smith Burnett (when healthy) De La Rosa (when healthy) Jepsen Moran Salas
  21. Other teams need him way more than we do. Why would we want him? Our bench is already full with Shuck, Catcher, Green, Romine/Peña
  22. Vs Righties 1. Trout CF 2. Calhoun RF 3. Pujols 1b 4. Hamilton LF 5. Kendrick 2b 6. Ibañez DH 7. Freese 3b 8. Conger C 9. Aybar SS Vs Lefites 1. Trout CF 2. Ianetta C 3. Pujols 1b 4. Hamilton LF 5. Kendrick 2b 6. Freese 3b 7. Calhoun RF 8. Green DH 9. Aybar SS
  23. I think it's too late for a big trade to happen, the guys I listed are just for depth and competition, which we are lacking. These are guys who might get DFA'd because they're out of options or are buried in the depth chart. Estrada and Howie are big names that I don't see getting moved this late. I could see something like Ianetta for Nicasio + prospect. At least one of Deduno or Diamond will be DFA'd because they are out of options. Same with Britton.
  24. Worley, Gibson, Deduno, Diamond are all competing for the #5 in Minnesota and all but Gibson are out of options
