Hot Stove Trade Speculation: Tiger Blood is Amazin’!
SigBaby replied to AngelsWin.com's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
If only we had traded Frieri and Aybar at the deadline when the Tigers desperately needed a reliever and a SS. We could've gotten a huge return -
Trumbo, Ianetta, Kohn + cash for Odorozzi and S-Rod? If not, I'd really like to get Sean Rodriguez back. I always liked him and I think he's better than the utility role the Rays have him in now.

Rumor only: Indians acquire Trumbo for Kluber?
SigBaby replied to Scott34's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
If this does go down (and I hope it doesnt), then we would need to get a really solid 2/3 starter, as Kluber is nothing more than a controllable #5 -

Bauer, Paulino, Kluber for Trumbo would be acceptable -

WTF? Carlos Carrasco blows and Kluber is a #5. This better not be true -

It's just a rumor. Depends on the other prospect too, but yeah he had a rough year: K/9 way down and BB/9 way up. -
U dont have a utility player for the offense. Romine's pretty good defensively, doesn't cost anything, is young, and isn't far behind Punto offensively if not equal Infante's not a utility player btw. He'll get paid to start at second
-
Romine + Ryan Jackson of Cards could easily = .250 10hrs w/ solid defense. At worst, they both suck offensively, but the defense would still be there
-
Yeah i don't want to put our eggs in that basket either, but it's what the front office has set this team up to do IMO
-
We don't have to replace his value with 1 player. Romine/ whoever we acquire will take care of his defensive contributions, while even if Romine or whoever hits a combined .240 10 hrs, that's not all that much of a drop off. Then consider that if Hamilton or Pujols (or both) contribute offensively anywhere near what they're capable of, Aybar's production won't be missed. Also, the fact that there are no good SS available is great for Aybar's trade value. It will never be higher than it is right now.
-
I agree to an extent. Our offense (that was pretty good this past season) would have faltered if we lost all those guys. However, going into this next season, this team's offensive success will depend on Trout and more importantly Pujols and Hamilton. If Pujols can hit like he did 2nd half of 2012 and Hamilton can hit like he did 2nd half of last season, then that alone will make up for all offense lost by trading those 3. Then you factor in Calhoun will be replacing Trumbo, Aybar will be replaced by Romine/ new aquisition, and Conger will be replaced by a FA (Kurt Suzuki?). I think Calhoun is better than Trumbo, Aybar will be better than his replacement, and Conger will probably have equal production as his replacement (although younger and a switch hitter which I really like about him). I like all 3 of those players, but there is fairly reasonable potential for an upgrade offensively without them, and by trading them, our pitching staff would improve a ton.
-
We already have Romine
-
I'm down. I assume Aybar is the same as Kendrick in terms of return package. Trade Trumbo, Aybar, Conger (more value than Ianetta). Trumbo and Jepsen to Brewers for Yovani Gallardo and Tyler Thornburg Aybar to Cards for Lance Lynn and Ryan Jackson Conger to Jays for Sergio Santos

Morosi with an interesting trade idea

Tigers also like their hard throwing relievers. How about dumping Jepsen on them too. -
I'd be fine w/ trading Trumbo, Aybar, Ianetta for pitching and I like your idea of spending on position players over pitchers, but this offseason isn't the year to do it. There is a pretty steep drop off after Choo and Ellsbury who will get paid huge. Maybe I'd take a chance on Corey Hart (if the price is right) to split time with Pujols, Hamilton, Calhoun, Bourjos at DH/1b/OF. Get a stop gap as a part of a trade and a backup catcher to replace Ianetta. 1. Trout CF 2. Hart DH 3. Pujols 1b 4. Hamilton LF 5. Kendrick 2b 6. Calhoun RF 7. Conger C 8. Jimenez 3b 9. SS

Having Miggy, Peralta, Prince behind him doesn't help, as he is a groundball pitcher. -

Offseason 2014: The Ultimate Winter of Trade Porn
SigBaby replied to Second Base's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
If the Twins could get Alex Meyer for Span and Worley and May for Revere, why is it unreasonable that we can get a solid pitching prospect for Bourjos straight up? -

Nor am I a fan of Middlebrooks. That trade would be terrible. -

I like what you did with the Blanton, Williams, Hanson situation, I hope that happens as much as I like Williams out of the pen. Another thing I noticed is how much better this team looked the last month or so of the season. They got back to small ball: they were aggressive, played good defense, and did the fundamentals right. That's why I think Trumbo will be gone, but Bourjos will stay. This is what I would like to see: Hanson + Williams non-tendered Ianetta to Toronto for Arencibia and a minor league pitcher Aybar to St. Louis for Jaime Garcia, Keith Butler, and Ryan Jackson Trumbo, Lindsey, and Jepsen to Tampa Bay for Jake Odorozzi Sign JP Howell and Scott Baker 1. Bourjos CF 2. Trout LF 3. Pujols 1b 4. Hamilton DH 5. Kendrick 2b 6. Calhoun RF 7. Conger C 8. Jimenez 3b 9. Jackson SS Arencibia, Romine, Green, Shuck 1. Weaver 2. Wilson 3. Garcia 4. Richards 5. Baker (w/ Odorozzi in AAA) Frieri De La Rosa Burnett Butler Howell Kohn Blanton -
Arencibia would be a decent backup and the Blue Jays might just look to dump him. I assume he's a streaky hitter based on his numbers, so play him more if he gets hot. He's bad defensively because for some reason he tries to throw from his knees. Sosh would have none of that
-
Ianetta for Izzy + Arencibia? Then Aybar would be expendable: Aybar for Jaime Garcia and Keith Butler

Headley and Luebke for Trumbo, Bourjos, Lindsey. Trade Ianetta to Blue Jays for prospect(s) sign Kurt Suzuki and Grady Sizemore as 4th OF. Sign Tanaka and JP Howell. 1. Trout CF 2. Headley 3b 3. Pujols 1b 4. Hamilton DH 5. Kendrick 2b 6. Calhoun RF 7. Aybar SS 8. Conger C 9. Shuck LF Suzuki, Green, Jimenez, Sizemore 1. Weaver 2. Wilson 3. Tanaka 4. Luebke 5. Richards Frieri De La Rosa Burnett Howell Jepsen Kohn Williams

Exactly, Aybar is an above average SS in an offseason where there is 1 viable FA starting SS and even he is suspect (Johnny Peralta). Aybar is a good bat to have in the lineup, but this offense will go as Trout, Hamilton, and Pujols go. How about Aybar to Cards for Jaime Garcia, Ryan Jackson, Keith Butler? Garcia is essentially Vargas, but cheaper, younger, and slightly better. He is of course coming off an injury, but I think we should consider him as a #4 starter. Jackson could platoon with Romine at short and Butler would slide into our pen.
