Two basic near-certainties that frame the future
70runner replied to Angelsjunky's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
Have you given any thought to applying for the GM position should it become available? -
Suspect the checked out perception is frustration over the teams remarkable downslide after the positive start, along with more lengthy slumps. Trout would be the last guy on the roster to check out. The only thing a Trout trade would accomplish is to change the team identity from "large contracts, small results" to the "team that traded the best player in baseball".

Gameday Thread: Angels @ Orioles (July 9th, 2022) 1PM PST

Goober "back to back real good swings by Suzuki" as the Angels lose 3rd in a row to O's. Smh. -
Crunching the numbers will identify symptoms of the "Stars and other players" management strategy. Invest hundreds of millions for stars, leaving less to invest in the other players and player development. Some stars investment is unavoidable, Trout and, soon, Ohtani. Others were completely avoidable. Quantifying the performance deficiencies of the other players will explain why the Angels are losing, but not address the systemic cause.

POLL: In your opinion is Anthony Rendon officially a bust?
70runner replied to Erstad Grit's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
A bust in Pujols terms? No, exceedingly rare and requires multiple years of suckiness. The "disappointment" assessment seems a better fit at this point, though I would preface it with "huge". Can't really blame the guy for his injuries, but it does suggest an injury pattern that will likely limit his reliability and performance going forward. His contract has bust potential. -
Imperfect storm. Best hitter in baseball abruptly turns into an out walking to the plate, Iglesias serving up hanging chads instead of 98mph heat, Ohtani suddenly becomes an average player with a 100mph fastball, along with a staff ERA of about 7 over the last 11 games. Such are some of the components of an 12 game losing streak. As these players aren’t going anywhere, reactions from the keyboard universe trend toward firing the manager and/or GM fest. If the imperfect storm continues, Maddon will likely be a casualty. Such is the way in baseball. Examining the components of the streak doesn’t suggest a change in dugout management will remedy same. Maddon is putting the same guys on the lineup card that were doing the job for 35 games and making the same bullpen selections. This streak seems to be more of several key players afflicted with slumpovid at the same time. Why? Only the baseball gods know.

Re-grouping a bit (or, "At least we're not 0-4!")

No news, I'm drinking, lets fight
70runner replied to ten ocho recon scout's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
A Ted Williams opinion, at least how my dad told it. Dad pitched for the Marine Corps fast pitch softball team circa 1950. They played (and lost) a couple exhibitions against Eddie Feigner, The King and His Court team of 4 players. Feigner was a legendary softball pitcher who could reach 100+, sometimes from 2nd base. Dad said Feigner told him there was no one in MLB (DiMaggio, Musial, Mize, et al) who could hit him except one guy he'd never pitch to, Ted Williams. Feigner said Williams would sometimes show up at their exhibition games and Feigner would tell him to stay in the stands. In 1967, at the age of 42, he stuck out Mays, McCovey, Brooks Robinson, Clemente, Maury Wills, Killebrew in order during an exhibition against MLB all stars...but always avoided Williams. -
Rittenhouse Trial
70runner replied to Make Angels Great Again's topic in AngelsSpin.com Political Talk
This circus is another sad statement on where this country is today. Decent kid maligned by the marxist/MSM cooperative, reminder of the Covington hysteria. One kid wore a MAGA hat, the other carried an AR15, abominations in marxistville. Days of rioting, looting, mayhem by democrat voters and the marxist/MSM cooperative wants to make it all about Rittenhouse. -
Wait to see if the "c*nt right wing Congresswomen" are "gone get fucked"? Very mature approach for a moron not like me.

Yea, because yahoo and rolling stone are the epitome of factually accurate journalism.

Jose Molina not returning, more changes coming?
70runner replied to mmc's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
If you can't quantify catching coach impact, how does replacing one become a dumb move? Seems more likely, it's just #74 on the FO importance list, we sucked, so lets dump someone. -
Did this escape from the Bauer thread?

Biden doesn't know what side he's on. He's a puppet with dementia, Obama and his crew are pulling the strings.

Lived in Norco for 20yrs, house overlooking the Santa Ana river. We witnessed the gradual transformation of the Chino dairy farms into Eastvale. Spent many an afternoon at El Prado playing in work golf league. If the wind was just right (Santa Ana from the east), the aroma was simply stifling.

Encouraging news. Finale (if you stayed with it after first segment of credits) set table for spinoff. Great show, up there with Line of Duty.
