  1. I kind of hope "Jelfry" Marte is just Jeffry trying to get paid.
  2. This only applies to 1st and 2nd rounders. 3-40 is a "sign or lose it" proposition.
  3. THIS is the type of hard-hitting reporting I come to this site for.
  4. I am with you. I think that relievers are overvalued in this market, and Bedrosian should be able to fetch us what I think we all really want: a freaking decent second baseman and probably one with 4+ years of control.
  5. Serious question: If you found out that Eppler was just acquiring players based solely on how much their names sounded like innuendo, you'd still take him above Dipoto, right? Plus, there is a decent chance that "Buster Posey" would be a trade target.
  6. I'd like Tanner Houck, and I also wouldn't mind Randall Romero (assuming you clear him psychologically). I'm going to be cheering for Michael Gigliotti, as I am Lipscomb Alumn and it's wicked cool to see a player that has a chance to be a top-20 pick (though 10 is probably too high for him, sadly). I think the Angels are in a great position, because I think that if the draft goes chalk then they should have some good hitters there for the taking, and if the hitters go a little early one of the great group of pitchers could fall to them. While I think we'd all love a Majors-ready pitcher to come in and be our #3 starter next year, we aren't a good enough system yet to be that choosy. When your worst-case scenario is "one of a great group of college pitching," the Angels are in a great position to strike on Draft day. Also: If we don't draft "Brock Deatherage" in the 2nd round, I am going to lose my faith in humanity. That is a terrific name.
  7. You should convince EVERYONE you work with to start calling someone else "Papa Bear." He deserves to be "T-Boned."
  8. +1 for using the possessive case with the Gerund.
  9. I probably am miss remembering, but I think my first thought about this trade was, "That price sounds about right," and was upgraded to. "We definitely got the best of this deall." About a month before this trade, I read a bunch of stuff talking about how Simmons wasn't just the best defender in baseball, he was the best by a fair margin. When I looked into his offensive numbers and I realized that there was a chance he could end up on the positive side of the ledger there-- and that his contract was just flipping fantastic-- I was happy. I hated to see Newcomb go-- I still think there is a really, really good pitcher there-- but Simmons was always going to be a plus player even if he didn't hit a lick.
  10. Scioscia.... just when I think it's time to move on, you open up this season a solid as ever, and then you say the one thing that I've always wanted to hear a manager say: "I am not limiting my best reliever to the 9th inning." Add in the fact that the Maldanado move-- which may be the most Scioscia move in the history of the Majors-- seems to be coming up aces, and... well, all I can say is you are too hard to quit.
  11. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The dems were attacking Jeff Sessions in the wrong way. Instead of trying to make him look like he was the leader of the KKK (which was always a shoddy argument anyway), they should have just said that he's a moron-- which has the benefit of being true.
  12. .... I thought you were going by sex appeal this whole time!
  13. Chevy Clarke? Does he really qualify? Maybe I am forgetting, but wasn't he a "below Slot" draftee and not really considered a first round talent? Also: Man, I was CONVINCED that Dick B. Wood was an all-star, McPherson would hit 40 Bombs, and that Reckling would be a #3 starter.
  14. Why is Ricky Nolasco in every damn picture? Did he know there was a camera there?
  15. 9. The only reason it isn't higher is that it's baseball. For all we know, Nolasco, Shoemaker, Skaggs, and Chavez could all have sub-3.50 ERAs and remain healthy all year, while Richards wins the Cy Young. Dumber things have happened.
  16. I really, really hope Campos can get and stay healthy enough to take a late-inning role as a reliever. The one hole in this off season has been the lack of a late inning reliever. A healthy Campos could more than fill that need.
  17. Taking bets now? Who is "LegendaryPujols#5"? 1. Eric Young, Jr: 2-1 2. Eric Young, Sr.: 3-1 3. An Angels fan that has a strange man-crush on the incredibly below average Eric Young, Jr. : 5-1 4. Field: 7-15
