  1. Wasn't he caught twice once for 50 games and the second 100 games, which he refused to serve before going overseas? I doubt he ever gets in the HOF.
  2. On the cheap for utility IF just stick with Cowart, he can play all 4 IF position with above average skills. Revere can play all the OF positions and play them well and wont cost much for the 4th OF.
  3. 7-7 at the Half. Could have been 14-7 except Rams fumbled on the 1 yard line.
  4. I didn't say we would, but the last I heard we were ~$50M away, at the moment and still have arbitration eligible players to pay, and holes in the IF to fill. I think we will be close. I guess we will both know, come April at the latest.
  5. Without Pujols our TV deal wouldn't have been as much. $150M/yr goes a long ways toward the $197M salary threshold. Plus unlike the Dodger's deal we get to watch all the games including spring training even if we don't have Time Warner/Spectrum cable TV.
  6. That wouldn't be much of an improvement over last season. 2017 - .241 BA, 23 HR, 101 RBIs, .286 OBP. Actually I like to see him play so badly next year that he is so embarrassed by his play he decides to hang up the cleats. Maybe once he get his 3000 hits and 2000 RBIs that will be it.
  7. What's to say any pitcher we spend big money on will not become injured also? Last year Keuchel, Kershaw, Price, Milone, Wheeler, Harvey, Felix, and the entire Seattle pitching staff spent significant time on the DL. I'm sure that those injured pitchers were just a sample of all the injuries to pitchers last season. At least our in house 8 pitchers are healthy at the moment and are still under team control. Our offense on the other hand was atrocious last year, and even with the Upton addition we still have more holes in the IF than Bonnie and Clyde's last car.
  8. He'll only be 32 or 33 in 7 or 8 years. I doubt he'll be very bad by then. He will still be an above average player IMO.
  9. He will be the DH, A lot of players have preformed above average at 35+. Yogi Berra @ 36 - .293/.360/.497.856 Mickey Mantle @ 36 - .237/.385/.398/.782 Stan Musial @ 41 - .330/.416/.508/.924 Willie Mays @ 41 - .267/.402/.446/.848 Hank Aaron @ 40 - .301/.402/.643/1.045 I'm sure there are plenty more, but don't feel like looking them up. Not everyone ages like Pujols.
  10. Charles applied to be the GM, and created his own sabermetric system and sent it to Tim Mead and others. He also designed a water catching system and presented it at a Brea city council meeting. He posted it on his Facebook page. He was a character, his one claim to fame was he was a big promoter of Shoemaker before his big season in 2014. He thought based on that one successful prediction he was the new Billy Bean. He never made it over here I guess.
  11. where is AngelGraffiti? He was always a good poster and always had good points, not that I always agreed with them.
  12. Arte had no control over the message board it was owned and operated by MLB. The Angels website linked to it but that was all.
  13. Trout is making $34M/yr over the next 3 years, having JD approach his salary is insane. He is not even close to the player Trout is. J D at best is a 4 WAR player. Trout's average is more than double that of J D's.
  14. J.D. Martinez Reportedly Seeking $210MM Deal https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/11/jd-martinez-rumor-200-million-asking-price.html
  15. Fangraphs spells his name as Ohtani. Baseball Reference spells it as Otani. Who is right?
  16. What he needs, is to be allowed to play through his slumps like they do with other players. If he is sure he won't be sent down again, maybe he won't press so hard to produce. Knowing he is the everyday player slump or hot streak, LHP or RHP, would go a long way to build up his confidence. It seems that if he doesn't start the season in a hot streak they send him down. Platooning him was also a mistake since he has a history of hitting RHP better than LHP. He needs to play everyday, but with very few starting LHP he wasn't starting very often and that also leads to some players going cold at the plate. Watch if he is traded he will have a career year and become an Angel killer much like Napoli.
  17. He hasn't yet been allowed to play more than 116 games and still had 16 HR. Last year he had only 339 AB, with 200+ more AB he could easily have hit another 10+ HR.
