  1. The Area around Portland is beautiful, Lakes, Rivers, forest, and Mt Hood. It rains way more in New Orleans than Portland. I'd live there.
  2. You could bet on every pitch: curve ball, change up, fast ball, pop up, single to a HR. Everything would be up for grabs.
  3. This is the very definition of Band Wagon Fan.
  4. Except for when we play the NLW teams we play the Dodgers 4 times a year. 2 in each park.
  5. The only ALW teams that have WS rings are the Angels and the A's. It's been 28 years since the A's won a WS. So we are the last team to win a WS in the ALW. I for one want it to remain that way. I guess the Yankees would be the least objectionable to win this year to me.
  6. I'm not sure you do, finishing 4th out of 30 doesn't meet the definition. me·di·o·cre ˌmēdēˈōkər/ adjective adjective: mediocre of only moderate quality; not very good. "a mediocre actor" synonyms: ordinary, average, middling, middle-of-the-road, uninspired, undistinguished, indifferent, unexceptional, unexciting, unremarkable, run-of-the-mill, pedestrian, prosaic, lackluster, forgettable, amateur, amateurish;
  7. Portland has a bigger fan base to draw from than Los Vegas and has the financing available according to the linked article. Las Vegas is already on the hook to build a new football stadium, can they afford both?
  8. Owner seemed pretty set on staying in Oakland and the financing is in place. They have been jumping through hoops for years looking at other cities and haven't found one. No they're staying count on it.
  9. How would there still be 2 leagues if they went with just 4 division with 8 teams each? What north and west in one and south and east in the other? I don't think so. They would just combine the two leagues with is why I think it will never happen. They may get 2 expansion teams alright, but keep the two leagues with only 4 teams in 4 divisions in each league if they do it at all.
  10. Try and get players on a trade with no trade contracts or sign a FA because, yes it is up to them. Besides at 7,382 feet above sea level it wouldn't be baseball as we know it. The air pollution is worse than the 50s and 60s in SoCal. I remember playing sports in the summer as a teenager and having chest pains and sore eyes from the smog. There hasn't been any smog alerts here since the 70s but they were common earlier.
  11. Without two expansion teams that whole plan falls apart. Portland seems to be able to support a basketball franchise. Portland metropolitan area. includes Clackamas, Columbia, Multnomah, Washington and Yamhill counties, Oregon and Clark and Skamania counties, Washington. 2015 population: 2,389,228. Las Vegas at 583,756
  12. Posted 17 hours ago All I know is the DH needs to be in both leagues. Watching a pitcher hit is awful. No other sport in the world plays by two separate rules just because a team plays 50 miles north/south of one another. ---------------------------------------------- I don't think there will be two leagues anymore if this plan actually happens. If the western division has the Angels, Dodgers, San Diego, Seattle, Oakland, SF, Portland, and Arizona. That would end the two league system. I don't like at all.
  13. Not sure a lot of players would be OK relocating to Mexico. Besides it's another high elevation city, nearly 2000 feet higher than Denver.
  14. The A's have just reach agreement on a new stadium, so there not moving.
  15. As long as they keep both leagues AL & NL intact.
  16. Cubs would be only the 2nd team ever to come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a 7 game post season series. I really doubt it's going to happen again for a long time to come.
  17. That would give the ALC 7 teams and ALW 3 teams seems reasonable to me?
  18. Clinton's response: American cruise missiles pounded sites in Afghanistan and Sudan Thursday in retaliation for the August 7 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. U.S. officials say the six sites attacked in Afghanistan were part of a network of terrorist compounds near the Pakistani border that housed supporters of Saudi millionaire Osama bin Laden. And then called it a day.
  19. If the World Trade Center was an elaborate rouse, why not do it on say Christmas morning when the buildings would have been nearly empty? Why kill more than 3000 people just to do, what ever their end game was?
  20. Baseball no longer is get em on, get em over, and get em in. It's boring boring, boring HR. Boring, boring, boring... HR repeat.
  21. I don't like it. The end of two leagues, no way this will fly. Four teams in each division, four divisions per league keeping the AL and NL in tact.
