With $50M to spend we should be able to upgrade the infield. I like to think Richards will be able to stay healthy next season, same with Skaggs and Heaney. Skaggs and Heaney showed some signs of being quite good at times and then turned around and were horrible in their next start. They need to become more reliable if the team is going to be successful next year. That being said if the offense can give these pitchers an early lead it will make it much easier for them to pitch with more confidence, instead of always trying to come from behind.

The 2 WC system keeps baseball interesting for many more teams until the final week and beyond in some years (2015). The one game play-in game makes it much more important to win the Division than the one WC system. The team that wins the divisions deserves to have as big of an advantage as possible for coming out on top after 162 games. With the 1 WC system the WC team had an almost equal chance of going all the way as the team with the best record.

The length of the contact is going to be a turn off for a lot of teams. Arte is going to be reluctant to go down that road again, IMO. I'm OK with it but it's not my money. Unless Upton opts out, I don't see any chance Eppler even tries to trade for Stanton. He may even try for J D Martinez if Upton does opt out, otherwise I think he will go for 2B and 3B replacements.
