  1. It only took Verlander 5 pitches to give the lead up.
  2. Already figured in to the Average annual salary. Yes it will cost Arte more, but no it doesn't impact the amount available under the tax threshold.
  3. It's $50M if Upton stays and $70M if he leaves per a tweet from Fletcher as I remember.
  4. With $50M to spend we should be able to upgrade the infield. I like to think Richards will be able to stay healthy next season, same with Skaggs and Heaney. Skaggs and Heaney showed some signs of being quite good at times and then turned around and were horrible in their next start. They need to become more reliable if the team is going to be successful next year. That being said if the offense can give these pitchers an early lead it will make it much easier for them to pitch with more confidence, instead of always trying to come from behind.
  5. Taking all of Stanton's contract should lower the prospect demand mostly because of so many years.
  6. Kershaw for the regular season, Bumgarner for the post season.
  7. Ramirez, but he had the stem cell injection treatment Richards had, and if it works like it did with Richards, he should be back by spring training. Heaney was going to pitch the last start that Norris made except we were eliminated by then so Scoiscia decided against it.
  8. Whatever big-ticket players the Angels acquire — whether from trades or free agency — are likely to be position players. Eppler and Manager Mike Scioscia both expressed confidence on Monday that the answer to most of their pitching issues are currently in-house... ... In addition to Richards, Heaney and Skaggs, Eppler added Matt Shoemaker, JC Ramirez, Parker Bridwell, Nick Tropeano and prospect Jaime Barria to what he considers his eight-man starting depth chart. He said he also hopes to add a couple more, although it doesn’t sound like that would include a marquee free agent like Yu Darvish or Jake Arrieta.
  9. I went to their website but even the most expensive option didn't have Fox Sports West on the their menu at least. I have been using YouTubeTV, it has FSW, FS1, FS2, ESPN1&2, but no TBS. I use MlbTv for those games. It also has most over the air channels but I also have a good antenna so I don't need them. It has unlimited DVR, and we can have 4 streams at once at lest I haven't tried more. It cost $35/month.
  10. If the season is too long, why does everyone complain about the long wait until spring training. Go back and read some posts from January, and see how everyone couldn't wait for the season to start. I guess they could have more days off and cut the number of games but It is a long winter without baseball.
  11. Winter begins Dec. 21 every year at the Winter Solstice.
  12. 1 three team Division? Maybe if they add 2 expansion teams.
  13. No the A's were the second WC 1 game behind KC.
  14. The 2 WC system keeps baseball interesting for many more teams until the final week and beyond in some years (2015). The one game play-in game makes it much more important to win the Division than the one WC system. The team that wins the divisions deserves to have as big of an advantage as possible for coming out on top after 162 games. With the 1 WC system the WC team had an almost equal chance of going all the way as the team with the best record.
  15. In the San Bernardino Mountains on the way to Big Bear.
  16. Vlad as hitting coach could help Cron, since he swings at balls in the dirt anyway. If Vlad could help actually hit those instead of just whiffing,,,
  17. Just as likely to strike out as taking ball four.
  18. The length of the contact is going to be a turn off for a lot of teams. Arte is going to be reluctant to go down that road again, IMO. I'm OK with it but it's not my money. Unless Upton opts out, I don't see any chance Eppler even tries to trade for Stanton. He may even try for J D Martinez if Upton does opt out, otherwise I think he will go for 2B and 3B replacements.
  19. And one player making $7M would make it $55M. A lot of the team will be making $500,000 so some players will make more. If the whole team made league minimum that's $14M leaving room for a few vets. Minimum salary: The Major League minimum salary will increase from $535,000 in 2017; to $545,000 in 2018; $555,000 in 2019; and be subject to a cost-of-living adjustment in 2020 and 2021.
  20. Yelich is only making ~$7M, that's pretty reasonable for the season he had. I wonder if they would want to trade a player with such a team friendly contract as that. Stanton on the other hand is owed a lot of money for a LONG time. I'm sure he is out of our price range but someone will trade for him. So you would trade Calhoun for...?
