Yeah Gentry was a good idea but it's not going as planned, with all the outfield depth in AAA they shouldn't hold on to Gentry very long, but you know he will get consistent at bats until the all star break.

You know everyone is saying this team is horrible but it really has to be better than last years team. Imagine having this bench last year? Let alone the production from Nava, he has looked great so far. I wouldn't be surprised to see Scioscia push this team to be way better than expected.

Pretty disappointing offseason. It hasn't made sense at all, the Simmons trade is still a head scratcher. I mean I'm excited to have a defensive wizard at short with offensive upside but why did we allocate our resources to a position we didn't need to worry about this offseason. Just the most puzzling offseason I have experienced as a fan, all the moves contradicting themselves. That's why I believe Arte changed course halfway through, the Simmons trade was supposed to be followed up by an Upton or Heyward signing but Arte got gun shy and now we are left with a roster full of question marks that could have been answered. Not a fun time to be an Angels fan, but hey maybe Eppler will look like an absolute genius just by infusing a little OBP around Trout and all of us will be eating crow. We can only hope right?

Anyhow, good stuff Doc although I don't see a ton of players that could really help the Angels - except the big hitters and maybe Tyler Clippard, who I like a lot but am a bit worried the decline in his peripherals last year.
 
For me the key info is that you have up to seven teams--BAL, CHW, DET, possibly STL, LAA, NYM or TEX--who could possibly be in on one of the three big bats. Let's say BAL goes for Davis. That leaves two teams who are more likely to sign Upton or Cespedes than the Angels. Let's say one gets signed and the other team is out. That leaves either Upton or Cespedes in a position where only bargain-hunting teams are left. Could be interesting.

I'd be cool with a gardener for Santiago swap at this point... Escobar and Gardener would give Trout plenty of opportunities to drive them in. Calhoun could slide down to 5 followed by Cron. But who the hell knows what's going on in the Angels FO right now.

I keep seeing the Braves are shopping Inciarte. That would be an awesome get for the Halos. Perfect lead off hitter, lefty, good defense, that can push Escobar to 2nd and Calhoun down to 5th or 6th

I was thinking Santiago, and Joe Gatto could go the Braves way. The Braves would have a good pitcher for cheap while they rebuild and at the deadline could sell high on Santiago. Gatto adds another high upside arm to their farm system. We get our perfect left fielder and stay under the luxury tax.
Just a thought, Inciarte may demand a bigger return than I'm envisioning.
