  1. I keep wondering where rock bottom is for this franchise, but each day they find new and better ways to continue to sink further. trading Trout, the best Angel to ever live, after pulling that contract out of their ass to keep him here… I mean I dislike Arte Moreno as is but Jesus Christ… i get fandom is about a team and not about one player but I would have a very hard time continuing to be a fan of this franchise if they traded him.
  2. Below average fastball without the velocity to compensate and average off speed pitches. no thanks
  3. I find the enormous number of oblique and hand issues kinds of odd. not sure you can blame the training staff, or even the coaching staff but something seems off. Trout, O’hoppe, Rengifo all hurt on routine swings, Adell, Ohtani, Neto, Moore all with oblique issues. I mean there are coincidences but at some point you have to start to look at training regimens, rest periods, etc and see if anything changed from last year that could cause this huge increase. A lot of it seems like terrible, terrible luck that you can’t do anything about. Nobody could have planned Ohtani’s elbow blowing up, as much as the media wants you think that.
  4. Yup, the season full of what could have been… the pieces were there, but luck, injuries, and depth….
  5. 2023 was truly the season that broke me as a fan. it’s like a mariners fan is playing MLB the show in franchise mode and picked the angels just to ruin them and laugh at the suffering. That’s 3 major injuries this year on a run of the mill swing. O’hoppe, Trout, and now Rengifo. All of Neto, Ohtani, and Adell all with prolonged oblique issues. what’s the issue?? This can’t be a coincidence.
  6. As an Angels fan there are 0 reasons to love baseball right now. Another September of hoping praying for the off-season..
  7. It’s like the Angels called a team meeting before the series in Toronto to all suck ass at the same time. Complete shitting of the bed by every single player on the roster aside from Ohtani (and then the injury happened) and Rengifo of late.
  8. Wow that’s horrific, I guess we all heard “his eye sight should be unaffected” and turned the page because the angels were in complete melt down mode. Another one of those reminders how meaningless baseball is at the end of the day and it’s all just a game. Hoping for a full and complete recovery aside from the misshapen nose, not being able to breathe out of your nose and not being able to use a straw sounds horrible, the little things we take for granted. I hate to say it but this excerpt sounds just like the Angels season since that series in Toronto. Essentially, punched in the face so hard it’s broken with not much of a timetable to get better. Though Ward did not suffer a concussion, and his eyesight was not impacted, the sinker to his face left him with three fractures: one to his orbital floor directly below his eye, one by his temple, and another by his jaw. On Aug. 5, Ward underwent surgery. Doctors inserted three different plates. He said that the third was necessary because the doctor found that his skull was loose. Coming out of the operation, Ward could not eat solid foods, forced to consume only liquids and broth. Nor could he breathe out of his nose because of four-inch splints in each nostril. He said he’s become “a mouth breather” and a heavy snorer, acknowledging he’s probably become a nuisance to his wife.
  9. So, I don’t see a path to contention for the near future. I don’t see how the collection of decent young players we have graduated to the majors, paired with a bunch of free agents is going to somehow ever work. Trout and Rendon are injury prone and past their prime, the pitching staff all took a step back this year, entire bullpen needs to be rebuilt, will need a new manager and coaching staff, the list goes on and on. We are all well aware of all the issues. It’s probably about time to do a thorough and complete rebuild, which now comes at an awkward time with the Schaunel, O’hoppe, and Neto all breaking through to the majors and seeming like major league regulars. The question becomes, do they do a rebuild in hopes of trying again around 2027 or 2028? What does that look like in your mind, who becomes available? Detmers, Canning, Sandoval, Ward, maybe Trout? The unfortunate part is we don’t have a ton of major league currency to trade and get impactful young talent, the impact talent doesn’t seem to be on the way in the minors with us being ranked 30 out of 30, so this begs the question. What do we do?! I guess what I’m asking is, does ANYBODY see a path to contention for this team in the next… idk… 4-5 years? I’ve lost all hope in this team and don’t see them sniffing the playoffs for the next decade.
  10. It’s sad that some random poster can do the research in the flaws of the Angels and their approach, yet who knows if the angels are aware, and if they are aware, clearly aren’t able to fix or coach it down to the players. Meanwhile the Dodgers can turn every struggling player they acquire around into a productive player because whatever data they are receiving , they have the coaches that know how to put it to use.
  11. Even the OC register is over the angels lol shortest post game article I’ve ever seen. “angels can’t hold on to lead, bullpen blows it again, 2023 is a waste” end of story lol can’t say I blame them, that was probably the least I have ever cared about them blowing a late lead. Im so sick of this franchise
  12. I’m probably at the crisis portion of it, when I keep telling myself I’m in the acceptance phase. Oh well.
  13. I’m sure it’s entertaining from outside fan bases. If I was a Ranger, Mariner, Athletic, Astro, or Dodger fan I would be laughing my ass off, and for good reason. from an insider’s perspective it’s really depressing to the point I don’t like baseball like I used to. I don’t care about the Braves being amazing, good all around players like Elly de La Cruz, amazing pitching performances, etc, when the angels suck. I have to detach from baseball and it sucks, I used to love the MLB. I feel like this has been a nightmare this past 10-15 years and there’s no way for it to change. We just have to keep sleepwalking through it. I guess next season is as good as any to fully detach and not jump back into the spring training hype.
  14. When did being tired and blisters lead to tommy John surgery? And we were just supposed to shut Ohtani down when there were no indications of a UCL tear until he had a drop in velocity and had to be pulled from the game. man I get this is super unfortunate but let’s be a little reasonable
  15. Yeah I’m saying here you are in the thread saying see I told you so… so yeah I don’t think you can actually read lol Pull up the thread you said we should trade him before he gets hurt and I’ll believe you. Until then I think you’re full of shit and taking your usual “im a smarter fan than everyone else” that’s called Monday morning quarterbacking.
  16. If you could read, I said the reasons for not trading him were well documented… of course now that he needs TJ not trading him looks even worse.
  17. This is bullshit… he had tommy John and sat for a whole 12 months +, we had a 6 man rotation for him, all sorts of innings and pitch count limits especially when Eppler was around, this is really the first year he’s been in charge of his work load. I know we are all frustrated but don’t make BS up.
  18. It’s really hard to find anything positive about this team.
  19. Come on you can’t Monday Morning Quarterback this one. The reasons they kept him have been well documented and nobody could have predicted a second TJ surgery. I’m hindsight yeah they should have unloaded him for a solid package. It is what it is. Full rebuild is needed
  20. Maybe it’s the curse of Los Angeles. until we change the name back to Anaheim Angels we will never see success. Edit: this is a joke… for whatever person put the facepalm react as if I was being serious. Oh wow it’s @Taylor the person that started the thread. *facepalm*
  21. There isn’t a single player on the roster I am tied to at this point. Ohtani is leaving, Trout is frustrating, everyone else is pretty meh. Just rebuild
  22. Our “brand” has been the laughing stock of baseball for the last 10 years. And it’s not like 2010-2014 was a super successful period, 1 playoff appearance to show for those 4 years and it was a 3 game ass whooping by the Royals.
  23. The mariners have everything going right. Pitching, bullpen, clutch hitting. They simply can’t lose. everything I hoped the angels would do in the second half. Meanwhile we are stuck in the mud and can’t do anything right, even when we try. Season done in august once again.
