I don’t see a path to contention next year, honestly. It’s so difficult to envision a rebuild with Trout and Rendon contracts on the books, nobody would be willing to take them on…. Perry has his work cut out for him. My assumption is they will try to resign Giolito and Moore, maybe one more FA reliever. They will then need to find a short term 1st baseman in hopes their first rounder Schanuel is ready to contribute at some point in 2024… also will need infield depth (Urshela?), and most likely a 3rd baseman. Trout is most likely the DH with some combination of Adell, Ward, Moniak, Trout, and Adams. A rotation of Giolito, Canning, Sandoval, Detmers, and Anderson will give us much of the same… .500 club with small flashes of good play. Continuing the theme of patch work jobs and hope to be competitive. There really isn’t any other path until they can somehow improve the minor league system, but that’s going to take a lot of time, and it was set back even further by the trades at the deadline.

Rallying Cry - Things Change Quickly
TroutField replied to HaloCharacter's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
Maybe if we hadn’t gone on a 2-7 stretch. They haven’t beaten good teams all year, the pirates and tigers series hyped us up before we started playing good teams again. I know it’s hard to accept but it’s over. Can you even remember the last time the angels played consistently over .500 for a decent amount of games? They would have to go like 35-15 or something ridiculous. -
It’s like how Chapman in the Toronto saying to his manager why are you pitching to Ohtani, nobody else can hit?! And then we go ahead and roll over like a bunch of soft ass losers and do exactly what Chapman said we would. pathetic.

It’s hard to feel bad for the players, if you guys don’t want to be disappointed then fucking perform when you’re needed. the biggest stretch of games in 9 years and the angels completely fold to the tune of losing 7 of 9 and now in the midst of 5 in a row, the pitching sucks, the offense looks even worse, and the in game decision are atrocious. We have no leader in the dugout thats calling these guys out for fucking up. ”tough room to be in right now”

It’s an angels board and we have lost 5 straight, what’s positive to talk about and how are my posts bitching, yet yours aren’t lol? You’re the one crying saying we have no excuses… look at the injured list for the Angels vs the Mariners. That’s not an excuse, it’s a proven fact you can’t win with AAA depth.. we have an entire major league starting 9 on the injured list, the only person of value the mariners have lost is Kelenic.

Will we finish above .500 this year?
TroutField replied to notherhalo's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
No, if we don’t make the playoffs it doesn’t matter. I legitimately can’t even give a time frame for when this team might be able to get back to the playoffs. 5 years at least, this franchise is very far off. -
I don’t know what else to say, this is a crazy run of bad luck. Can’t even say it’s bad baseball, everything and I mean everything has gone wrong in the last 5 games. Down to a double taking a bad bounce and hopping over the wall so the mariners can win it…. Splitting wasn’t good enough… Losing 3/4 and potentially getting swept ended he angels season. Fuck Jerry Dipoto and Scott Servais. I really hate being a fan of this team.

BS. Oh well Neto didn’t start the year as the short stop, doesn’t mean we are without our starting shortstop… also ward just got hurt, during the most crucial stretch of games we have had in some time, of course it affects the team. Adell was set to be the fill in with Trout hurt, instead we have Rengifo as a 4th outfielder and have Trey Cabbage filling in games in centerfield. they aren’t excuses when you lost your entire roster, and the Astros are a much better overall franchise than the angels with the minor league depth to absorb a few injuries. They also couldn’t have competed had they lost their entire starting 9 at different points of the year. im as done with this losing as you are but there are some legitimate arguments to be made for the angels. I’m to the point where we HAVE to be cursed, we go all in for the first time in how long and immediately lose 4 in a row? We score 4, they score 5, we score 9, they score 10. It’s just exhausting.

Nah, if I’m Ohtani I’m running to the Astros, Dodgers, or Braves. can’t say I blame him at this point. It will be a sad day but it is what it is.

I’m sorry but you can’t compare the Astros losing Ventura and Altuve for 1-2 months to the angels… I’m as frustrated as anyone, but here is, so far, a list of things that went wrong this season; Stassi never plays a single game, O’hoppe labrum tear misses 4 months, Drury hurt shoulder misses a little over a month, Neto hurt on and off for 2 months, Rendon barely plays any games, Ward fractured face, Trout broken wrist, Urshela done for the season, Walsh completely forgets how to hit due to health issues, Adell oblique issue, Moore oblique issue, Suarez who was set to be in the rotation basically done for the year. Overall lost our starting catcher, backup catcher, first baseman, second baseman, short stop, third baseman, left fielder, center fielder, back up outfielder, utility infielder, set up guy, and 6th starter, also Renfore mentioned he had been battling an injury for a couple months but never hit the IL. They did a mid season patch work job to keep them a float while everyone healed up but there’s only so much you can do. There is not a single franchise that could have absorbed the amount of injuries the angels sustained to starting position players. anyways, the farm is torched and the major league team is doomed. Could be 5-10 years until the angels are even able to come within striking distance.

That was probably the decisive blow on the season. You just cannot lose games, especially like that. im dumbfounded at the pitch selection in an 0-2 pitch with the bases loaded. It’s like he asked the mariners where they wanted it to be thrown, and the cherry on top is the 3 up, 3 down in the 9th. Dipoto still getting the last laugh 8 years after leaving the franchise in the middle of the season. I fucking hate baseball
