The issue is why did it take two months for the team's crack medical staff to figure this out.
If that's really what's happening, but with the secrecy that surrounds injury reports, we have no idea what the truth is.
Two doctors picked by the Angels said it was a bone bruise. Two doctors picked by Rendon said it was a bone bruise.
Try harder.
I don't need to know. None of us do.

He isnt showing up because he has a fractured tibia.

Why would he lie?

A lot of you just want to feel wronged and/or place blame. I'm no medical doctor... or trainer... or expert on hipaa. I also don't think everyone that doesn't want to share with the media is the worst.

This thread. Oof.

Never forget... Blake Snell risked his life out there so we could be entertained during the summer of 2020.

I don't know his exact foot speed, but he seems a little slow. Don't you want someone leading off who can steal bases? This team has too few players with real speed already. I thought the Cincinnati series showed us what real speed can do. Schanuel is a really unique player from what he has shown us so far, I'm just not convinced he is the ideal lead off hitter. I understand they are trying different things right now with players to see how they perform, there is nothing to lose in doing so.
Right now it's probably the least of the team's problems. The pitching and defense need to be addressed once again, and very significantly. Way too many runs have been scored on the Angels this year, it's ugly! I really like Ohtani both personally and as a player, but if it keeps the team from addressing pitching and defense I don't know how you justify keeping him when you have a budget limit.
Yes.
Best option by far right now.
As far as addressing pitching. They were, what, 9th in mlb in era last year. Added Anderson. While you couldn't have expected a repeat of last year you could've expected better. Added Estevez and Moore.
Young pitchers don't come up and have consistently good results. Some hitters do but not many starters. Detmers, Sandoval, Silseth, and Canning could make for an excellent rotation .... even next year. It didn't work out this year, but it doesn't mean the Angels ignore pitching

Forgot about Phillips, but, yeah, I'd be surprised if they went down that road again. No reason to.
He's probably a good guy to have around. Especially now when you are done, the season has been disappointing, and the future is uncertain.

Maybe, Maddon's comments last week regarding the trades and Giolitto is true he was a 2-3. Not a true 1a/1b as he hasn't had experience in a Playoffs or Pennant Race.
Then you've got CJ.
Then you've got the Register article about Wise and Tamin...
It's all relevant!
Nobody thought Giolito was s 1

Ben Verlander hammered the Angels yesterday for causing this.
Today he got more information and posted an "emergency podcast". Good info. Didn't offer any sort of apology for the crap he said about the organization, though. Even though the info means they aren't to blame.
Injuries happen... especially this one...
Sometimes there's nothing you can do about it

I could see it happening the other way, too

Trout going back on the IL.........because why not??????
I think it was because he felt pain.

Love what I've seen from him. Excited for his future. I think the Angels have filled three black holes in about one year. All with young, cheap players.
Their biggest problems over the last ten years have been finding young, cheap contributors and the absolute dead spots in the order.

Tee hee hee.
The guy mentioned in the thread title and the post that was quoted, numbnuts.

Puzzling why Ohtani wants to continue to play instead of seeking treatment for the injury.
Is he going to be on some weird Pujols-like quest to hit a HR total?
The only thing weirder would be if he insisted on pitching.
He lives baseball.
It wouldn't be surprising though if he ultimately gets surgery before the season over.

I love Trout to death. He's been my favorite player since day one and the reason I watch their games still... but..... This is getting ridiculous. He knows damn well the team can't succeed with him being on the IL for half a season.
It's a mild form of Rendon 2.0 except he's a fan favorite so we support him. at this point, he should consider a change to corner outfield where he can limit the stress on his body.
I agree if they have a capable CF... they do defensively, but Moniak is such a mess at the plate, he shouldn't be in there every day.
Also, he hurt his hand swinging a bat.

My complete disdain for the Dodgers has little to do with the team itself and everything to do with their absolutely trash "fans".
Exactly

Rendon hates baseball so much he worked for many years to build his skills to such a high level that he could hit the ball off his knee when the time was right.

Once you have surgery on something, it must be rehabbed. He has to decide what’s best for his career as to when to get the surgery. Of course he can hit before he gets it tho, like he did in 2018.
Yeah yeah yeah. So he misses a month or so?
Amazing
Ohtani has cleared out his locker

That'll fix Ohtani's arm, Rendon leg and Trouts wrist. It's the curse of Arturo changing the name to Los Angeles
