Why is Trout safer in LF than CF?  He's gonna play just as hard.

The platoon in CF would likely be Gentry/Ortega
The platoon in LF is Gentry/Nava

Trout loses value from LF to CF.  The positional adjustment if 1 WAR.  This assumes that Trout is similar defensively in LF and CF.  Which I doubt, but call it a wash.  Let's also assume that Gentry puts up similar defensive value for LF vs. CF

So we lose 1 war with Trout going to left and we gain 0.25 WAR for Gentry going from part time LF to CF (assuming he plays about 1/4th of a season)

So we are essentially talking about making up 0.75 WAR between Ortega and Nava but Oretga get that by the fact that he's playing CF.  Let's assume that they are both similar relative to their peers at their respective positions so after the built in positional adjustment they both have a net 0 defensive value.  So we are essentially asking who's bat is better between Nava and Ortega.

I buy everything except "It's covered". They brought in two guys with batting averages below Matt Joyce's last year, and he was dreadful.

I found an Angel message board right up Charles alley. It was everything you'd want to know about Angels. The ones with wings and no bats or ball or gloves. I was trying to see if some of our regulars found a different meessage board from this.

David De Jesus is still available.

and... Matt Joyce was a disaster of epic proportions last year, but does anyone think it was from lack of effort. I honestly think he's a decent guy who had a catastrophic season. Pittsburgh signing him on a minor league deal seems reasonable, and I hope Joyce finds his success again.

we have an idiot waiting list.  it's by raw number as opposed to percentage.

we try to use IAR (idiot above replacement) as our primary stat in determining whether you get added to major league roster.

This is the thing with sliding Escobar to 2B... He hasn't played 2B since 2007, so there is essentially no data to project Escobar at 2B in 2016.

What we do know from 2015 defensive metrics:
Escobar's one year of 3B in 2015 was terrible according to both DRS and UZR. Giavotella's one year of 2B in 2015 was beyond terrible according to both DRS and UZR. Freese's two years of 3B in 2014 and 2015 were league average according to both DRS and UZR. So, even if Escobar is as bad as Giavotella at 2B defensively (unlikely), he is probably a better offensive 2B (OBP and OPS specifically).

It's not unreasonable to think that in 2016 Freese at 3B and Escobar at 2B is a superior combination both offensively and defensively to Escobar at 3B and Giavotella at 2B.

This was also my thoughts when we first signed him was moving him to second he had great hands and feet around the bag and could turn the double play with the best of them. Having him and Simmons up the middle could also provide some highlight reel double plays....Just sayin!~

So the injured player was a minor leaguer going from the Jays to CIN, we have no idea who the Angels were going to trade, if anyone, or if any cash was coming back or going out, and the trade didn't happen anyway, and this is a HUGE embarrassment to the franchise?  Give me a ****ing break..  Start the ****ing season already.
