Jim Leyland. Scioscia could learn a thing or two from him. The big catorce needs to go. His act is old and he clearly isn't a good fundamental manager.
Thanks for the 15 years Mike, here's a promotion to "Assistant to the GM"

yep, too much credit given to the other team and no criticism given to his own players.  that's why they always look like they could care less.

I've just about had it with Scioscia and his constant post-game praise of the opposing team when we play like crap.

Where's the anger?! Where's the fire?! I'd be throwing chairs and tables around after an "effort" like we saw tonight.

    Complacency is the right word.

How about we wait for the team to give people reason to be optimistic before we rag on them for not being optimistic?

The one constant in all these years of fundamental baseball ineptitude is the employment status of Mike Scioscia.

Virtually everybody else -- player, coach, front office staff -- has been replaced with the new blood, yet the same problems continue year after year after year.  That can't be a coincidence.

My pet peeve with this team is how no improvement in fundamentals ever happens during the season or offseason.  Whatever weaknesses players had last season, and the season before, and the season before that, are still with us today.

Other teams pounce on the opportunity to exploit these flaws because they're so obvious.

Chuck, I understand that it is early in the season and these guys are professionals.

But Kevin Jepsen in 242 career games has a 4.53 ERA and 1.47 WHIP. To me, it's clear he should have been cut loose at the end of last year. I was really surprised and pissed they brought him back

Yeah, I'm not getting the Sosh should have went to the pen earlier arguments at all.  This pen is going to be taxed all season with three young starters and it already sucks.  The last thing we need is going to it any earlier than ever totally necessary.

    This pen is horrible.

In 2010 when 36 year old DH Matsui gave us all an Opening Day home run and a .274 / 21hrs / 84rbi's season many people said that he sucked because he wasn't Vlad enough.
I seriously doubt that 41 year old Raul Ibanez will give us anything close to what Matsui gave us and I'm personally shocked that he was even signed.
Freeze will be steady but nothing spectacular. Trout, Hamilton and Pujols are all putting good wood on the ball so I'm no concerned about the offense as a whole.

They were down by 1 run in the 9th.  Why wouldn't you bring in Smith in that place to make sure they don't score anymore runs?  You bring him in to assure the score stays the same, whether you're down or ahead.
