Why?  Because that is debt against the sale of the team, after he is no longer on the team, when he adds no value to the team.  Imagine buying a team and having $680 million of debt accrued for something no longer creating value.

So he was offered 3 Billion last year when he put the Angels up for sale. How much do you think he lost in Value the minute Ohtani left?

MLB clearly set up Ohtani to the Dodgers by giving them a total refund on the Bauer deal, legalizing their use of the DH, then sneaking in an incredibly player friendly change to deferred money rules without asking the MLBPA for any concessions. All that happened roughly in the last year or so.

The Dodgers are also already opening up the ‘24 season in Korea. Shocking.

Yup MLB definitely has their blood stained Hands on this deal.

My "hatred" for the Dodgers was mild before this deferred acquisition. They're now the number 1 villain. So much so, that I'm actually thankful that the trashstros cheated them out of a chip. The phony 2020 season is all they can cling to. Hope they remain the modern day Buffalo Bills.

    Trash asses.

    P.S you chaps are cool.

Shit The Dodgers I have always hated but now Ohtani I hate even more. I never want to see Ohtani succeed again that pos is dead to me. He had his eye on the Dodgers for the past 6 years and when he had the chance he bounced.  He shit on us Angel fans who supported him for the past 6 years. To see him give that kind of contract to the Dodgers makes me absolutely sick to my stomach.. Seeing him only DH and the Dodgers not winning shit for the next 10 years would be the cherry on top

He's got a massive ego so doubt we'll ever hear anything. But I have to assume he's gone here soon at this point.

He took a massive hit in the media, and sith the fan base. He just lost the biggest name in the game to his hated rival. And I think @Jeff Fletcher or someone on here mentioned recently, Bally Sports is dying and that will hurt his income in a huge way.

I think the most we'll ever hear is the media saying Arte is selling again, and we'll never hear from him again.

One can only hope this is true

  5. Can anyone confirm this?

The collective bargaining agreement has a section for calculating the CBT hit for a contract that includes deferred money.  According to reports, that calculation works out to a $46MM average annual value and accompanying CBT hit for the Dodgers and Ohtani.  As you can see here, $46MM tops Max Scherzer‘s previous AAV record of $43,333,333.33.  It’s $6MM beyond Aaron Judge‘s $40MM AAV, which was the highest for a player on a deal of more than three years.
