I am not necessarily against non tendering him. I listed guys who should be more likely non tendered. I do not like the idea of non tendering either Walsh or Barria but u derstand how it could happen. Also, my agreement with you is on the comment "he doesn't deserve a raise". That is not nevessarily non tendered.

Yes Barrias 2023 stats that are skewed because of 2nd half collapse. What about his performance the other 5 years? I guess that means nothing becsuse of 2 and half months in 2023 where every pitcher more or less tanked. Despite that i can see Barria's role as replaceable with Suarez who has shown greater upside than Barria and probably cheaper. Walsh also has a problem of having no position. Schanuel has taken his position at first. Both are leftys so back up 1b isnt likeky. Outfield we have Trout, Moniak, Adell and Ward. He may have role as 4th outfielder.

I do not think they are "budget busters" at that salary. However if you have players making minimum wage that can pitch effectively for four seasons such as Barria or have an upside an All Star like Walsh, than by all means dump them.

Both Barria and Walsh could easily be DFA. However, I would DFA Diaz,Fulmer, Wallach before giving up on Barria and Walsh. Barria has been in organization and pitched well in four and half. If he was crap all season i would give up on him. A lot should be determined on who needs to be added to the 40 man roster and who they bring in from outside organizations.

I dont mind extending Ohtani for 2 reasons. One he is a homegrown player and has earned. Two he brings in the revenue back to the team through ticket sells, media rights in Japan, and merchandise sells. As for franchise killer? Its only a franchise killer if the owner doesnt increase payroll to pay for other players. If thats the case blame the owner.

IMO you do not sign long term contract for other teams FA. I dont mind Trouts because we got his best years for cheap. However we paid Pujols for his St Louis performance. I have no problem taking a risk of a long term contract for our home grown players

Should Angels let Walsh go? Best case scenario next year we have Trout, Moniak, and Ward in Outfield and Adell as a 4th. We have Schenual at 1b. However, Trout injuries are well known, Ward is a question mark if he can come back from face injury, and Moniak might be a one year wonder. And Who knows if Adell can hit mlb pitching. Schenual doesnt hit for power and might not adjust when pitchers adjust to him. However Walsh has his own question mark.
