MVP, MVP, MVP!!!
Health is the only thing that can keep him from the MVP at this point. Good thing that Trout is no longer the best player on his own team, nice problem to have. 90 wins coming.....

LOL. Insane. Why do opposing pitchers throw fastballs to Ohtani.

We have good Cobb tonight.
It helps to pitch against this Tigers lineup Amazing how the Angels pitching staff loos good against bad teams and bad against good teams. Just need more games against the cellar dwellars.
-
I'm amazed that this Detroit team has even won 29 games so far. Cabrera is just as bad as Pujols, I wonder what the fans take on him these days is. Hence the coming sweep.
-
4 game sweep coming. By the numbers the angels have the starting pitching advantage.

Upton can stay where he is.
Fletcher should be getting more chances at 4 PAs/game than any of those 5th through 8th place hitters.
Which in itself a sad statement about the lineup.

Ohtani + tigers hitters = no hitter
then he gets pulled after 80 pitches and the bullpen blows it.

Here’s the bottom line…
Anyone can find some numbers that support whatever decision you think is right, which is most likely the decision you came to after seeing the results.
The pitchers have to perform. Period. Maddon isn’t out there throwing the pitches for them.
If he puts them in reasonable spots and they don’t do the job, it’s their fault, not his.
There was nothing whatsoever unreasonable about his decisions to pull the starters the past two games or bring in the guys he did.
They came in and sucked. It happens.
Of course you can always say that about any move any manager makes. But it is their responsibility to put the players in positions to succeed.
look at Pujols. Total dumpster fire here most are glad he is gone. The dodgers have made him essentially a platoon guy against lefties and his stats are much better. They are putting him in position to succeed and he is.

The diamondbacks are on their way again tonight. With a loss they will be 2-27 in their last 29 with TWO 13 game losing streaks. Wow.

I think Ohtani can benefit from some time at Salt Lake.
Just imagine how good he’s be with 4 wives.

This pitcher is pretty crappy. Just what the doctor ordered.
-
1/3 roam day then 4 straight against Detroit. 90 wins here we come
-
Good Heaney tonight. 2/3 against the A’s then 3/4 against the tigers later. A 5-2 week. Creeping towards 90 wins.
-
Throw him out. Hitting two guys in a row and beaning a guy in the head. Get rid of him.
-
Game. Another sweep coming.
-
Don’t know if I’ve ever seen a catcher hitting lead off.
-
-
Game. The diamondbacks are ready to just roll over now after yesterday.

I really think it’s coming down to usage. The Angels played him virtually every day. The Dodgers are using him often, but are likely a little deeper into the data and have the players to mix and match the types of pitchers he faces.
It’s a combo of all these things mang.
They have been using him almost exclusively as a platoon guy. No starts against righties. Starts against lefties and comes in to ph against lefties.
he had an interesting thing happen though. Appeared in the box score as a pinch hitter with zero bat, with no walk, no hbp, no sacrifice.

Hopefully the Soria possibilty got put to bed today.

Angels game MVP: Soria.

We’re Angels fans.
Maybe I'm a softy but I feel for the fan bases of the teams that just have no shot at anything on any night. The Angels have had a rough decade but at the least fans can go to the ballpark and watch Mike Trout. This year they have the two best players in the league (when healthy). This will be a 90+ win team. Imagine getting to go to the park and say Oh boy I get to see Pavin Smith!! That sucks.
I had the Angels even down 5-0 because the Diamondbacks suck so bad.
Gameday Thread: Tigers @ Angels (6/18/2021): Rengifo in for Fletcher at 2B, still no Rendon

Anyone whos critical of Maddon's handling of the pitching staff want to comment the Tigers managers decisions in that inning? After giving up 5 runs, 2 home runs in the inning and walking a guy he keeps him in. I think a 12 year old baseball fan would have known hes done.
