  1. Box score says Selman was credited with an earned run despite not giving up a hit or a walk. It is the Angels so anything's possible but that doesn't seem right?
  2. Maybe if we draft pitchers in the first 20 rounds for 8 or so straight years we'll eventually find a guy who doesn't give up homers to every Astros and As hitter he faces
  3. At least Ohtani's MVP campaign is back on track. Don't care about the rest
  4. I'll get the vaccine once there's a weekly booster (paid, of course) and I can get all of my belongings branded with the logo of the pharma company that issued it. A personal letter from Biden calling me a dumb redneck and a $5 Burger King coupon would be a nice added touch too.
  5. And the team is showing at least some promise in terms of prospects and pitching. Better than the dark ages when it was Trout and maybe hope Cowart can hit above .220
  6. Looking at his last 4 starts: TOR: Did fine through the first 5 innings, unraveled in the 6th. Got zero run support TEX: Fine through the first 5 innings, 2 ER in the 6th COL: Defense had a total meltdown and fell behind early OAK: Again, fine through 5 innings, ran into trouble in the 6th So the theme seems to be to limit him to 5 innings for optimized success. I'll gladly take a guy who can limit the other team to 1-2 ER even if it's only over a max of 5 innings, especially considering what we've been dealing with the last few years.
  7. The one that costs the most and performs the worst. And come on, we've all been here long enough to know that us signing Correa has zero chance of biting the Astros in the ass when he immediately turns into a .220 hitter that misses half of every season.
  8. Page 5 and the takes are getting spicier. This thread has potential. Personally, I think Trout is clashing with Arte and refuses to play. Trade demand incoming. Or he'll make a dramatic retirement post like Yermin Mercedes and Maddon will have to console him and make him rethink his decision
  9. For someone that made as much money as he did, he sure was a defensive, whiny prick. Sounds like his loss
  10. Yes, but Slegers is a proven commodity with a 6.46 ERA.
  11. Maybe he wants to focus on his beekeeping hobby Or we've gone full Detroit Lions and made our best player lose interest in the sport
  12. Detmers will be fine by 2023, just as Sandoval and Suarez have taken a couple years to adjust. It could be ugly until then though
  13. I love that we always play the Dodgers well no matter the talent disparity.
  14. Pudon? That sounds like some Asian fusion dish
  15. I think it's similar to what you see in many other job markets, there's so much demand for the roles that there's little incentive for those at the top to improve conditions, even if's a net benefit in the long term. It's the same thing in finance, junior people get worked into the ground and leave after a few years, and the prevailing argument, instead of actually treating employees with respect and improving retention (which costs less and drives increased happiness and productivity in the long run), is "well you get paid a lot so stop complaining." Same here: "well you're playing for the chance at $100m contracts so suck it up you babies."
