  1. At this point we need to hit on all of Adell, Marsh, Detmers, Bachman, Barria, Suarez, Sandoval, etc etc, hope none of them gets injured, and accept the fact that we'll likely have 3-5 injured/ineffective hitters making too much money at any given time. At that point our talent level will overcome our incompetent owner and manager.
  2. Quintana's been totally fine as a reliever, certainly better than a lot of a garbage we've been throwing out there this year (Guerra, Slegers, Hoyt, the list goes on). So it's no surprise he did well when we wasn't being shoehorned into a starting role like we tried to do.
  3. Only if we can pay him 20m+ a year. Otherwise I'm out
  4. He'll come back at full health next year and hit 60 homers while batting .360. Everyone else will get injured and we'll finish .500 anyway
  5. Can't speak for other teams that I don't follow as closely but our bad players (the bottom quarter to third of the roster) tend to be not just bad, but disastrously awful. Tons of guys with 6+ ERA's across meaningful innings, and in prior years guys like Joyce and Ibanez batting .180 across meaningful at bats. I'm baffled that they continue to strike out on these signings every year.
  6. They can use that money to make some additions to the scouting depar....nevermind
  7. When was the last time the presidency wasn't a complete dumpster fire, regardless of party? I'm certainly not old enough to have seen it.
  8. I can't wait for September. Maybe we'll even see a position player start a game at this rate.
  9. Yep, I saw the same thing at the last company I worked at. Spend the whole budget on all-star hires in executive management, then refuse to spend on any of the departments beneath them. End result is there's no one to do the actual work (even if the strategy is good) and you have a top-heavy organization that looks like it should be succeeding, but isn't. Just like with the Angels.
  10. Petricka and Maitan should get it done. If they ask for Lord Slegers I hang up the phone.
  11. I'm still reminded of Chris Waters throwing 8 shutout innings against us while giving up 1 hit in his major league debut for the O's. He would go on to win 4 career games. That was back in 2008 and has set the tone ever since
  12. Disagree. It's pretty easy to predict that the Angels won't make the playoffs in any given year. On the other hand, I may win the lottery or grow a third arm.
  13. Nice work. 2 run deficit may as well be 12 when facing the unstoppable force that is Cy Akins
