    A true baseball broadcasting legend.
Growing up in the 80's, I loved listening to Vin and Joe G call those Saturday games of the week.  Cliche but they don't make announcing teams like that anymore.

Not a good enough reason to use the words "shock" and "awe".

Since you spend a good deal of time on an Angels message board I'd call more inevitable than coincidental.

Well, that excerpt didn't want to make me read or hear more from Eppler.  I lost interest in such things when Arte and Scioscia essentially ran Dipoto out of town.

I don't trust my eyes judging someone's defense.  Never have.  Even those trained to do so, and those with a lot of experience doing so, probably shouldn't trust their eyes as much as they do.  I don't know about dWAR or defensive runs saved, but a lot of these new statcast metrics are ten times better than King of Gut's eyes.

I'm feeling pretty relaxed about the team, not going into the season with too many expectations. What will be, will be. I'm expecting 85ish wins, although if I squint in the right light I could see 90ish. But I could also see 75.

10 years $400 million is what Trout will go for or at least come close too. It's not laughable when that is what he will get paid? You can argue back and forth about whether any player is worth that but it will be close to what the market valuates him at and what a team, any team, will eventually pay him.

Arte should've hired a baseball operations executive and a new GM after the Vernon Wells debacle. Things changed after the fans called out Arte for being cheap. Now we live with it.

But the fans wanted Pujols, Hamilton, Greinke, Wilson, Tanaka, Heyward, Upton and many more. You can't have it both ways. Arte went "all in" with Pujols, Wilson and Hamilton and got screwed. Not even one playoff win was enough for Arte to figure it out. Some fans here were asking Arte to give Trout a 10 year $400m deal....laughable.

I have enjoyed some of the more savvy moves he's made this winter. Ortega, Choi, both Guerra, Pennington, Soto. Give it a read.

Now we are all aware that we acquired the magician for his smooth as silk D.  But....  how far above el Mendoza line are we gonna be comfortable with?  Say you?  .205, .225, .240, .275?  I believe I read that the wizard expects to jab at about .280 in his first go-round in the junior circuit?  Maybe he will maybe not?  The very last magic man to come to town was Ervin Magic Johnson and he brought along considerable offense with his D?

But again if the newest magi languishes closer to .205 or .225 are you still good with it all?  And if he's struggling the year long where does Iron Mike bat him?  7, 8, 9?  Where would you?

Our throwers are all supposedly giddy at his mere presence out there?  He's like having a chain link fence extending from second to third.  A ball tapped anywhere in his sweet zone is a nearly as possible automatic out?  For the next 5 years.

I believe he'll have a fairly normal period of adjustment in this new league?  I think he'll hit his .280.  But maybe it's next year for that?  I'm seeing him hit nearer .250?  With crazy magical D.
