  1. You mean 5.00 ERA Weaver, the guy who looks done? Skaggs, whos coming off Tommy John surgery. Wilson, coming off on an elbow injury and also appears to be quite finished. Other then that, youve got Santiago who had a terrible 2nd half, and Shoemaker who is inconsistent. I dont see this rotation being that reliable, and if this is the group were starting the season with we actually might need to trade or sign for a SP instead of trying to give one up.
  2. Someone please explain how we can afford to trade a starting pitcher. Our rotation is thin already, we barely have 5 guys to make the Major League roster. On top of that, with Newcomb and Ellis gone, we have absolutely 0 depth. So I ask you, suppose we trade a startet (CJ or Hector for example), are we going with a 4 man rotation? Suppose someone gets injured, then what?
  3. Yeah, one guy, who will probably cost a fortune. I think it would be easier to sign Zobrist and find a cheaper quality player for LF. Its a lot easier to find a quality outfielder than a 2nd basemen.
  4. Ive been trying hard to trade Stoner in NHL 16. Even if I give up all my first round picks for the next decade, nobody is willing to take on his contract.
  5. A 2B with OBP doesnt exist nowadays, so that is a little much to ask. I dont know whos really available, id higly doubt we can get a 2nd basemen this offseason. Sign Upton or Heyward. Trade for Evan Longoria. Sign a solid bullpen arm. Thats a championship level team. Unfortunately we have nothing left to trade.
  6. What do we have left to trade? Our most valuable assets went to Atlanta, to fill a position that wasnt even a weakness. Theres talk of trading Gott, but that would be absurd considering the bullpen needs upgrading as it is. We need to sign someone for Left Field. Otherwise, youre looking at another David Murphy or Shane Victorino type player coming over for cheap.
  7. How bad would our bullpen be without Gott? We have Smith and Street, who else is actually reliable?
  8. .299 OBP last year .316 career OBP Ive been saying for months how the Angels franchise does not care about OBP.
  9. Lets see Hes 30 years old He strikes out a lot, and he has a terrible OBP 100 % of his game is dependent upon his athleticism, He plays golf every day before every game, and refuses to quit Hes already starting to have injury problems Yep, seems like an ideal target. With that said, I probably wouldnt even mind if we signed him, mainly because im a fond believer of "its not my money." He might have 1 or 2 more All Star seasons in him, and I want a World Series title now, so I can live with the other 8 seasons being terrible.
  10. The lineup would be 2x better for the simple fact of getting a guy with OBP in front of Trout. All these other changes (Aybar to Simmons, Freese to Cowart/Kubi, Ianetta to Soto), are very miniscule changes at best. Unless we get that OBP guy to score runs of Trout and Calhoun XBHs, the offense will be pretty anemic next year.
  11. If we can afford to give Freese 3/30 we better be throwing damn near a half a billion at Heyward.
  12. Another pie to the face to the Jays. They traded their farm for this guy.
  13. Richards is a wild goose. Heaney probably will be solid. Santiago = Blantiago, his 2nd half performance last year was abysmal. Skaggs, coming off Tommy John surgery. Weaver, yeah. Tropeano, who knows.
  14. Would have loved to do this deal to bring Lackey here. So whats our rotation again? Richards, Santiago, Weaver, Heaney, Wilson? Great.
  15. Never overpay for defense? Then why did we just give up a future ace for a slap hitting short stop?
  16. Gonna be pretty ironic when we bring in Heyward and hes making more than Mike Trout.
  17. So the Blue Jays essentially get a pie to the face. They traded their farm for an ALCS exit.
  18. Yeah lets go out and spend 200 million on Cespedes instead.
  19. Does anyone honestly think Cespedes will be a great player into his 30's? The guy posts an Erick Aybar esque OBP. Pretty much all of his game derives on power and athleticism. He takes very aggressive swings constantly and has been doing it for years. Oh yeah and he has a weird obsession with playing golf every day before a game, and he refuses to quit or listen to anyone saying otherwise.
  20. If they ate the last few years of his deal, sure why not. As the old saying goes, it aint our money right.
