  1. Cant wait til Ortiz gets in and people make a different excuse. Some cheaters are allowed in, some are not. I guess it depends on how you treated the media.
  2. Exactly. Its nothing more than a popularity contest. Thanks for agreeing with me.
  3. Youd have to be pretty ignorant to think Piazza never used roids.
  4. Dont worry he wont. Its no longer about baseball talent and what you did on the field. Its a beauty contest.
  5. So steroid users are now allowed into the hall, but the all time home run king is still left out. Ridiculous. But then again the HOF is a beauty contest so its not surprising.
  6. Street was a midseason trade thanks to a Jedi mind trick. Trout fell in Arte's lap. Weaver took a hometown discount. Wilson and Hamilton were offered ridiculous contracts, back when we had money to spend.
  7. We better sign someone. If not this offseason will make 0 sense. We basically traded our best prospects for a defensive specialist, only to follow up with putting bad defenders at 3rd, 2nd, and 1st, and not upgrading LF. While our rotation has a ton of question marks and very little upside and we traded Newcomb just to be an average team defensively. Its the latino star theory. Look at the guys we traded and look who we brought back, a latino star shortstop (defensively). Arte really goes all out to get latino stars and allocated most of his money to them.
  8. He had an all star mvp and home run derby win in the same week. In 03 with Scioscia managing the AL team that year as well. That was a good time to be an Angels fan, especially since everyone was still drunk off the 02 World Series.
  9. I looked into this myself as well. Over the last 8 years or so, the team that wins it all is usually a very good OBP team. The one exception to this rule, the Giants. They play in one of the worst hitters parks in baseball, but if you check out their road splits they are always a top 4 team in the NL for OBP. But the reason I say they are the exception is because they have gotten some legendary performances by star pitchers in October, for all of their World Series wins. That isnt a formula that anyone can possibly try to follow. Not to mention, they are extremely well managed. Bochy compared to Scioscia is like night and day. Other than the Giants, you have the Royals, Red Sox, Cardinals, and Yankees, and all of those teams were very very good OBP teams. Yeah pitching is important of course, but unless you have a patient lineup and a good team approach where 1-9 you have an on base threat, chances are you arent going to very far in October if you even somehow make it there.
  10. Forget leadership. Just get on base. No OBP, no rings. Say it time and time again until it echoes in your mind because this is all that matters as it pertains to winning baseball games.
  11. It really makes you wonder what this front office is thinking when they trade a huge part of this teams future for a defensive specialist. Only to follow up with having poor defenders at 3rd, 2nd, and 1st while Albert is out. This team will not be good defensively.
  12. This guy really just say that Featherston has trade value?
  13. I never said it was tanking. More like not trying that hard. Theres a difference and you should learn reading comprehension.
  14. No. Gordon would be a great idea. He put up a .377 OBP last year. Over the last 3 years, he has had 354 at bats with runners in scoring position, he has a .923 OPS and a .314 BA in those at bats. Just imagine Gordon hitting behind Trout, the run production would be absolutely insane. Two players who can post an OBP that high, with terrific RISP skills, say goodbye to prolonged offensive droughts. Escobar Trout Gordon Pujols Calhoun Cron Gia Perez Simmons This lineup would feast
  15. Its entirely possible the Angels could get a free agent. Its entirely possible the Angels wont get a free agent. The Angels are thinking about doing baseball things. The Angels are thinking about not doing baseball things. Im thinking about getting a turkey sandwich for lunch. I may get a turkey sandwich for lunch.
  16. Talk about jumping the gun. They havent "buried" themselves at all. They are within 3 points of everyone except the Kings, with at least a game less played than all of them. I would advise against their strategy of taking the first month or two off, but they obviously dont care about home ice in the playoffs anymore, which frankly I dont blame them. If they were in any other division theres no way they would have taken as many games off as they did, but I think they know how bad the pacific is and that they dont need to do what they did the last two years which is storm through the regular season. Also lolz at burying yourself in December.
  17. Is it just me or is that rotation really really bad? If Kershaw misses any of his starts, Dogs will be in huge trouble.
  18. Conspiracy the Ducks struggles are due to them trying to ensure they get a low seed.
  19. Nahhh this is a legitimate possibility. Cespedes is a latino star.
  20. Cespedes at 5 years is just as good at Upton for 7 years. Both contracts would end around age 35 and given that Upton is 28 I think he will get 7. Hopefully Escobar can be the OBP leadoff guy that we need. Trout would get some more rbi chances while getting better protection from Cespedes. Still would like another OBP guy to move Calhoun down to 5th in the order. But Escobar, Calhoun, Trout, Ces, and Pujols, would be a very potent offense.
  21. Cespedes has proven he can hit in bad parks, like Oakland and Citi Field. I think he definitely falls off in a minimum of 3 years though. Hes already shown signs of breaking down. But given how little success we have had in the last 5 years, ill take anything. I dont think this organization will ever make smart decisions so my hope is we can put just enough talent around Trout to get in and get lucky in October.
