  1. I'm actually looking to get my hands on one (hint hint). I want to use it to decorate my classroom because there are a lot migrant students. If anyone has an extra one I would pay a few bucks and shipping.
  2. The cameras are not fool-proof. As mentioned before, just knowing they are around is a deterrent. I used to work at a store in south coast plaza and they would only have one person doing loss prevention. He would partially rely on employee tips or hunches on suspicious people or groups of people. You can't catch them all, but when you do you prosecute the hell out of them.
  3. Hope to have Richards healthy for next year. Get well soon.
  4. I think a challenge should be made immediately. Not run out, look back in the dugout, and then make a decision.
  5. Hopefully we hit a few more to Crawford this inning
  6. I used to hate those damn magic eye things. I could never see them. Therefore I hate all optical illusions.
  7. I left the game where Trout hit for the cycle right before the homerun. My wife wanted to take my 2-year-old home as the game was getting late (the Angels were pouring it on offensively). I had just reached the car when I heard the crowd roar. I turned on the radio and listened to terry smith talk about it. My brother called seconds later (he is a mariners fan) and asked if I saw it. I told myself and wife I wasn't mad, but I was so pissed that I had not been paying attention that the cycle was at hand. I still have the ticket, though it feels hollow. So, if I ever introduce myself at an AW event, please do me a favor and punch me in the face.
  8. With all this Jeter love I need a gift basket.
  9. I didn't have the exact quote so I'm glad you were taking notes.
  10. Yeah I heard that. Same guy also said trout would have a great hall of fame career if he spent 20 years in ny.
  11. Last original member of the Ramones has past away at 65. Bummer. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/13/nyregion/tommy-ramone-65-dies-gave-punk-rock-its-pulse.html?_r=0
  12. Following the death of his 9 month old son. Thoughts go out to him. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/07/12/jean-segura-leaves-brewers-following-the-death-of-his-nine-month-old-son/#comments
  13. Was unimpressed with the habit. I like fat burger the best taste wise but it is expensive and hard to find. In and out is great for taste + value. You can get two #2s for about 11 bucks. I hate spending 20$ for fast food. It's sickening.
  14. Totally agree with pretty much everything. I had to memorize common core lingo and strategies ( close reading, text dependent, blah blah). After I got home, I would always review the answers to the questions I did not do so well on. As a new educator, I think it is important to explain how you have used common core, but also to admit that you don't know everything about it yet. Most educators necessarily don't. Two things I have been told that have helped me approach interviews: 1) never turn one down, even if you know you will not take the job. Each interview you go on gives you confidence and experience. 2) the applicant should treat the experience as if they are interviewing the school / job. If the principal / panel seems cold, think how it would be to work with them. If the area is someplace you don't see yourself feeling comfortable, it might interfere how you perform day to day.
  15. http://www.dietrichwegner.com/work/holes_lumps/bloominganus.html I wonder what type of hi-jinx could be had with one of these suckers?
  16. Once I was in the lobby waiting to be interviewed and I heard HR offering the position over the phone to someone else. Talk about a stress free interview.
  17. A really well thought out article. [/size] They forgot to mention most of the HRs seem to come on 0-2 counts.
  18. As to the original thread topic, I keep searching even if I felt good about the interview. I try to take the information and insight I gained and use it to my advantage with other schools inside and outside the district. Hopefully this will put your anxiety on the back burner. I actually got hired on with a district recently and then interviewed with three schools / hiring boards to see which principal wanted me. It was a lot of stress but I eventually was hired by the last school. One thing that sounds cheesy but helped me stand out was that I made a brochure about my self and teaching style. It had all of my contact info and eportfolio info. This way I had something to give without having to give a hulking portfolio.
  19. I remember terry smith talking about this at a home game a week or so ago.
  20. That was pretty cool. What always interests me are all the generations of nails in telephone poles. To think of all the different postings over the years: dating, cars, concerts, lost pets, etc. They are the original Craig's list.
