  1. Maybe if we could get an OF prospect along with Quentin. Always thinking about depth on the farm.
  2. I second on Featherston. Good season in AA, good showing in the AFL. Might end up being a very good pick up for us. Along the lines of Eck, I hope.
  3. Astros have a lot of good prospects to deal. They seem to be collecting catchers, though.
  4. If all of his 10 mil is assumed by someone else, sure. And no trading away top 20 prospects for him, either.
  5. The only way out of this one is to take someone else's bad contract in exchange. Also, who becomes the regular LF? Seeing Cowgill every day doesn't thrill me so much.
  6. 2 of the 3, Morin and Newcomb, aren't going anywhere. Cron, maybe.
  7. Of course. It would drop by about .5-1.5 million dollars. I also thought, would manager Mike rather have a rotation with Scherzer in it, or Santiago? Santiago being cost controlled would also have quite a bit of appeal to numerous other clubs. Did you think about that?
  8. Wtg, Notti. Your opinions are so superior to everyone else's. I'm in awe of your brilliance.
  9. The Angels are about 18 mil under the cap. If the team moves Hector Santiago in another deal, I would imagine that we'd be far enough under the cap to sign Scherzer.
  10. I like Grilli, but I don't think we'll miss him. Street Smith Morin Pestano Bedrosian Salas Ramos Plus two or three that I have left off. The bullpen has plenty of depth, I don't think we need to spend any money there.
  11. I voted for .280/.850 with 30 HR. I suspect, however, that he may do it for another team.
  12. At this point in his career, he isn't any better than our in-house options. Unless we can get him for nothing, pass.
  13. I wouldn't say that it hasn't worked yet. Neither Hamilton nor Pujols has been the player that they were prior to coming here. On the other hand, the trades DiPoto has made for the young pitching have been excellent, and made from a position of strength. The additions of Perez, Joyce, and others as complimentary pieces were pretty good moves, too. If Richards comes back to the form he showed last season, the team may be poised to make a deeper run in the playoffs, and we are well under the luxury tax at this point, so if we need to add a piece or two, it can be done.
  14. I think we win this deal because we got his best seasons. Plus, its hard to argue about Heaney and the 5 seasons of club control.
  15. I think Featherston will make the final 25 as our 2B. One of Rutledge or Green will be the utility inf. The other will be traded.
  16. Even with Kemp and Myers, the Padres are still offensively challenged, so I would suspect at least some interest in Hamilton. One or two of the Padres young pitchers would be nice.
  17. Good move. It probably means that CJ Cron is a goner, though. If we do trade CJ, he's one of the few young players we have that could get us a decent arm in return. Everyone is looking for his kind of power bat.
  18. Seriously like the Heaney for Kendrick trade. It also gives us a surplus of LHSP. Wilson, Santiago, Heaney for this season, and add Skaggs when he returns.
  19. Krauss is our lefty power bat off of the bench. I don't think we acquired Featherston just to offer him back. I still see a deal with one of our relievers (Jepsen?) and maybe Green if we bring back Beckham.
  20. I wouldn't discount Featherston. Green isn't defensive enough for a Mike Scioscia team.
  21. We only have to keep Featherston. The others were selected in the AAA phase, so they would be heading to SLC.
  22. Just my opinion, but I think Green is a 2B only, and a bit of a defensive liability at the other positions he plays.
  23. I would move him for a bucket of balls, the way he pitched last year.
