  1. I rarely vote for Republicans (so far the only one has been Reagan, who I voted for twice), and I was considering Christie as an alternative in 2016. This casts an entirely different light on things.
  2. The full 60 Minutes episode from January 12, 2014 There are a lot of stories summarizing what he said, including one from a Yankees fan site. New York Daily News PinstripeAlley.com The Sporting News Sports Illustrated CBS Sports Bleacher Report
  3. I have never gotten a group message, so I have never encountered this issue.
  4. I wouldn't be against giving him an invitation to spring training with no guarantees.
  5. It's interesting that, for all the grousing about the writers' vote, we would have elected the same three men they did, and no more.
  6. I suppose just like the opposite extreme. It's cliche to say "It's a dry heat", but if it goes north of 110 it's hot, regardless of the humidity. The -7 I experienced was in Oklahoma, the first winter I went to school there after moving from Florida. That winter was also my first encounter with freezing rain. I learned how to drive in snow that winter as well.
  7. I never understood this kind of report. There is no "leader", only one winner and the rest are left out.
  8. I'm giving this serious thought. I'm with AT&T (not intentionally - I'm a former Cingular Customer and AT&T swallowed them). Had Sprint for a while but really didn't like the service.
  9. And I'm sure that their only remorse is over being caught. People who have a conscience don't inflict this kind of suffering on another human being.
  10. You aren't supposed to talk about sequels until they are announced. Now the cat is out of the bag.
  11. I believe that they could reverse that trend if they started selling Baja Blast in stores. I'm convinced that it contains cocaine or something. That stuff is addictive - and I'm not a huge fan of soft drinks. Not sure when their exclusive agreement with Taco Bell expires.
  12. It has been so many years since I've seen Rocky that the quote slipped my mind.
  13. Our zoo (such as it was) has been closed and all the animals dispersed to other zoos.
  14. I don't see Wells even getting an invitation to spring training. Given his production last year in the one thing he is supposedly good at - hitting home runs - he averaged one every 40+ plate appearances a year ago. Pretty much every organization in baseball has at least one guy in the minors who can match or beat that production, and odds are he isn't 35 years old. Are you going to bring up a guy who might develop into a solid major league hitter, or bring in a guy whose career is already pretty much done to do the same job? There is an adage in baseball: Don't lose with old players.
  15. I believe that he cares a great deal, and that he works very hard. The skills just aren't there anymore. For all the grumbling about his production while he was here (deserved, IMO), I never heard a hint about him not working to fix things, being a bad teammate or demanding playing time when he wasn't producing.
  16. Just look at the voting for the All Star Game. That isn't a process I want for deciding who is enshrined at Cooperstown. Every Yankee of any significance would make the HOF.
  17. If you are into Mediterranean food and have transportation, nowhere in town better than Paymons. Two locations, one at Flamingo and Maryland Parkway, the other on West Sahara. The one on Sahara also has a hookah lounge, not sure about the Flamingo location. The Sahara location is the nicer of the two, but also the farthest from the Strip. Their falafel is the best I've ever had, incredible hummus, their Athens seasoned fries are practically a food group by themselves. My favorite thus far is the chicken curry, diced white meat chicken with a curry sauce served over a bed of rice.
  18. Apart from the bogus weapons of mass destruction argument used to justify the Iraq invasion, perhaps the biggest miscalculation made by US leaders was the uninformed assumption that an Islamic country would openly embrace American-style democracy.
  19. When I saw this I was thinking about a different place. The Big Texan Steakhouse in Amarillo, TX has had a challenge for a 72-ounce steak for years. They have photos on the wall of people who have completed the feat. Never felt inclined to try.
  20. Best steak place in town, IMO, is Del Frisco's Double Eagle, off Strip on Paradise Road.
  21. Yeah, but think of all the great torn ACL stories.
  22. If his consult with Saban going into the Sugar Bowl is an indication of things to come, Bama fans may join their counterparts from Tennessee and Kiffin won't be allowed east of the Mississippi.
  23. He had 11 home runs in 458 PAs for the Yankees last year - not exactly Ruthian production. One HR every 40 PAs wouldn't be too enticing to me if I were a GM, especially in a 35-year-old outfielder who is likely to get worse.
