    Bring lots of money if you are. Ticket prices are astronomical, and some of the hotels are requiring a minimum four night stay at adjusted event prices.

    Not at all. But I also knew that they were taking steps to turn it around, and they have had a good farm system for a while. It took time for some of those players to reach the majors and have an impact. One thing that I haven't heard about them is going cheap on scouting, not providing basic equipment and so forth.

    I would be far more encouraged by this argument if this weren't an organization with a history of throwing big money at declining stars, ignoring the farm system and doing everything on the cheap. The chief difference is that the Rangers are well run, something that no one would accuse the Angels of. They also have an excellent farm system, which has yielded important pieces of the team.

    Texas A&M fired Jimbo Fisher this morning, paying a record buyout for him to go away. Firing him after a 51-10 victory seems odd, but it is Texas.

    There are Mets fans on social media who are pissed because they whiffed on Counsell and Washington, and settled for a Yankees bench coach who has never managed. It does seem like an odd pivot from Buck Showalter.

    I can't imagine that Showalter would accept an assistant GM position, especially in a situation as unstable as this one. The GM and the owner may not be in the picture within a year or two.

    If nothing else, the club is not tied into a long term contract if it doesn't work out.

    The Braves thought enough of him to bring him into the organization. That isn't a club who just brings in anybody. If there were valid issues, he wouldn't have been on the staff.
