  1. Cowboys center Travis Frederick revealed some awful news on Wednesday, as the All-Pro lineman announced on Twitter that he had been diagnosed with an auto-immune disease called Guillain-Barre syndrome. Frederick said he has already received two treatments for his condition in the last two days and that he is optimistic because his disease had been caught at a relatively early stage, but his doctors have told him he will be out indefinitely as he continues treatment. https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/cowboys-pro-center-travis-frederick-diagnosed-rare-auto-immune-disease-002113318.html My wife was diagnosed with Guillian-Barre Syndrome after the birth of our oldest son...(23 years ago) and a very good friend of ours was just diagnosed with Guillian Barre Syndrome in the last week. The good news is that the caught this early, and hopefully he responds to the treatments. If, like my wife, he does not respond to the treatments well, he could be in for a long road to recovery.
  2. EY as our fourth OFer, I'm all down for it. I like what he has brought both this year and last year. Last night's line up.... AP - 19 HR's Calhoun 17 HR's Everybody else combined: 15 Hr's
  3. For those of us who only see him on TV and not in person....seeing it in person was horrible. Getting to 1B on defensive was rough.
  4. 1. Fletcher is a very very smart player. When he hit his triple, the entire right side of the infield was open. Goldy was holding Calhoun and Marte was playing behind the bag at second. His total focus was going to RF. 2. AP is old and slow. Playing as many games at first as he has this year is wearing on him. 3. Rivera still sucks. So tired of seeing him out there. His AB's were not that great, and he has a hard time catching the ball. 4. Cowart....as much as I had hoped he would figure something out....I dont think he has a future in baseball. His double looked great..the other at bats he looked lost and badly fooled. 5. Pena outside of the third, he looked legit. He was in control, had the hitters off balance. Heck he struck out AJ Pollock three times and Goldy twice. Overall, if you told me that Rivera, Ward, Cowart and EY were manning the five through eight spots, and we took the NL West leading Diamondbacks to the brink of a lose....I would have laughed...heck I was shaking my head last night. It's a shame that Cam was an idiot last night. Our seats were above the pen, and he looked sharp during warm-ups.
  5. Was at last nights game....Albert looked old and slow. Several plays at 1B he barely beat the runner there. Martel almost beat him out. Ohtani needs to play some 1B just to rest Albert. It was not pretty last night.
  6. First off...your over reaction to the move is strictly awesome. Secondly, the manager is still trying to win games....The Angels had a two run lead, heading into the bottom of the 8th. You have a rookie 3Bman, who has only had 89 games in his career as a 3bman. Logic would tell you that Scioscia was not expecting an implosion by the pen, and he was putting the best defensive players on the field to win the freaking game. Destroying the confidence of Ward, by removing him for someone who has better defensively is not a problem.

  8. When Trout returns.... Calhoun Trout Upton Ohtani Simmons or AP AP or Simmons Ward Catcher Fletcher Or Calhoun Fletcher Trout Upton Ohtani AP Simmons Ward Catcher
  9. Big fan of Corbin's... He had TJ surgery back in 2013, but since: 2014 - 0 games played 2015 - 16 GS 2016 - 24 GS/36 GP - 155.2 IP 2017 - 32/33 - 189.2 2018 - 25 Gs - 155.2 IP 3.6 WAR and is only 25 years old
  10. Not hate...AP should not be batting in the #4 spot. He is not a clean up hitter anymore. Not with a .706 OPS (.632 w/ HR and 4 2B's since the All Star Break)
  11. AP batting #5....baby steps. If Trout returns, pencil him in at 3, Upton at 4, Ohtani at 5 and AP at 6
  12. Career OPS of .627 Last year it was .736 Again...you know what you are going to get with Rivera. He should not be apart of the 2019 Halos team. If he can play and prove to be healthy and someone makes a move for him great....otherwise he wastes a spot (IMO).
  13. It doesnt hurt...but Rivera is not a rookie...you know what are going to get with him. Playing him will only prove he his healthy enough to help a team behind the plate. For me, I totally had written Rivera off. Life is what it is.
  14. Just cut Rivera loose. He has been a lost experiment and I'd rather see Arcia and Briceno play.
  15. I knew that...but it means that AP is the DH. Let AP play 1B and let Ohtani DH.
  16. At what point does Mike think of Shohei as a full-time player? I am growing tired of playing the 'match-ups' Marte's slash line against LHP: .213/.232/.413/.645 Ohtani's slash line: .175/.277/.246/.523 It is time to move on from Marte and let Ohtani get regular AB's. Quite freaking platooning.
  17. We all know that our pitching has been stupid this year...Has Billy made moves looking forward to 2019? The acquisition of Jerez and Buttrey to go along with Anderson, Parker and Alvarez seems like the framework of something better than we have seen. I also like Robles and Cole. A few mulit-inning arms.
  18. Pitching...hands down. Possible could fill a void at 3B, unless Ward is tabbed for that spot. For next years staff....Heaney, Skaggs, and Barria. Hopefully Canning and ??? I'd like to see a top of the rotation type of guy. Even if that means moving some prospects. Also some BP arms. Now as to a MOTO...if Manny wants to play 3B for the Halos next year....I'm all in. Otherwise, let the young kids play.
  19. Sorry if this a Craig...but I heard these numbers last night and I couldnt wrap my mind around them... The Angels this year: 53 Players used 30 Different Pitchers 11 Players have made their MLB debut this year.
  20. The shift has ruined many of baseball player....players now a days (for the most part) are pull happy home run hitters. Gone are the days of hitting the ball the opposite way or heck...how about a bunt up the line. Cole drilled a ball to LC field last night that was caught for an out....I was happy. He drove the ball to LCF. We need more of that, and less pull happy crap.
  21. I would have preferred EYjr at the major league min over Chris Young. I was never enamored with CYoung while he was in Arizona. EYoung and CYoung are just fourth OFers...at this point it really doesnt matter.
  22. From Fangraphs... I think he needs at least a year to 'catch up' 13. Trent Deveaux, OF Video Signed: July 2nd Period, 2017 from Bahamas Age 17 Height 6’2 Weight 160 Bat/Throw R/R Tool Grades (Present/Future) Hit Raw Power Game Power Run Fielding Throw 20/45 30/50 20/45 70/70 40/55 45/55 Signed for $1.2 million out of the Bahamas, Deveaux is a projectable 6-foot-2, has plus speed, and exhibits precocious feel for center field. His bat speed is fringey and his swing is a bit long. That said, it has some natural loft, and Deveaux has time to grow into his body. There’s pretty considerable hit and power projection here because of the frame. Deveaux isn’t as advanced as some of his J2 2017 peers, neither physically nor from a baseball standpoint, but there’s already lots to like here. The frame, athleticism, speed, and defensive profile are all very promising. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/top-20-prospects-los-angeles-angels/
  23. No sarcasm necessary, I think Dipoto is great GM for Seattle. I am looking forward to their future.
