he's saying the FA dollars earmarked for soto.

That and also the fact that Soto is going to make a lot more in arbitration most likely next off season. I'm not familiar enough with the Padres to know what their owner is thinking. Unless they back load Shohei's contract to fit in Sotos arb salary.

I did report it as part of the Arte interview two weeks ago.

It is a pretty silly thing for the Angels to do, IMO. I think there is value in having the broadcasters on site, which is why it’s been done that way forever. And the cost savings is minimal in the budget of a Major League Baseball team.

The OCR, which has way less money than the Angels, sends me on the road because it’s necessary for me to keep the readers informed on what’s happening with the team.

I guess it was overlooked in your interview and just brought up now that Sam Blum tweeted it. For as much as users here hate the guy, they sure do like to post his tweets and make threads about him. Thank you for being objective and showing how petty Arte is being.

Fletch doesn't spend all his time ragging on Arte. If he wrote the article, I'd be more inclined to take it seriously. Blum lost his by making his whole spiel being anti-Arte. He has basically no credibility for me to take him seriously at this point.

Arte sucks balls. He deserves all the ragging he gets. I can't understand how fans still support him after the way he's run their favorite team. Especially after he says he's going to sell and then changes his mind. F him.

Kinda feel the opposite.  If they asked Angelswin to do this then I could see the bias toward picking the Angels because they're fans.  These guys likely aren't fans but they do pay closer attention to what the Angels have done this offseason vs. other teams in the division.  Most of the national writers will write the Angels off because they didn't make any big splashes.  People closer to the team know this is the most complete and well rounded squad they've had in a decade.

I was thinking this article was in order of anticipated 2023 record, as opposed to 2022 records.

So you didn't read it. Not even the very first sentence of the article. Unless it was edited after you scanned it, which I highly doubt. The sad thing is I bet you aren't the only poster here that made that mistake. Reading comprehension is dying. Even with your mistake, the Angels in 3rd place is likely going to be the vast majority of predictions other than the local writers.

  6. It's almost unfair how the Dodgers can have one of the highest payrolls year after year and a top 3 farm system. That ORG is so incredibly smart. Then again, they only have 1 WS title in the last 35 years to show for it so there's that. I am not sure at what point they became so smart. 10 years ago? In that case, 1 WS title in the last 10 years is decent. Of course, it should have been 2 which would have made them more successful. Even if MLB pipeline is not the most accurate, it's not like they are way off. I looked at 5 different rankings and the Angels were 25th and higher on all of them. Arte has hired terrible scouts. I can't stand him.

Kevin Modesti does NOT like the Angels chances!

Harsh for sure but he's the outliner. I think some bias does come into play though with 5 of them thinking Angels will finish in 2nd. I'm very curious how the rest of the USA writers think. I'm sure the majority have the M's in 2nd and I think there is very good reason for that. It's a long season of course and the Angels might finish in 2nd but the M's do have a better team on paper at least and a better farm to bring in injury replacements or for a deadline trade.

i would venture a guess that it was mostly people who didn't have apple tv+ or didn't want to subscribe to it just to watch a handful of games. since people have watched baseball for free forever, suddenly having to pay to watch games isn't something that many want to do.

The problem is you have to pay twice to see those games.

You already pay to watch baseball if you have BSW and now you have to pay an extra premium to watch those games.

As I posted earlier, you can get 3 and 6 month trials fairly easily. Especially the Target Circle one. Apple TV plus broadcasts in 4K which, if you have a 4KTV, is glorious.

Here's an article I found with nine ways to get free Apple TV plus
