  1. @Chuckster70 - this is great stuff! And I totally agree w/ this quote from the summary pre-amble: "I don't give out grades for drafts as it takes at minimum four to five years to really see how successful a draft was".... So... Do we have a similar summary archived from 4 or 5 years back that we could review to see how well the organization talent evaluators did that year (and I like the idea of a scale: "if two or three players make it to the big leagues with some form of Major League success (three-or-more years of average value), you can call the draft a success"
  2. Sooooo.... How do you extrapolate those stats into an MLB leading 36% strikeout rate...? (3% more than any other MLB player)...
  3. Hold the phone... Shohei didn't wear it... and now Moniak just put it on... ugh...
  4. Nice to see we bagged the post-HR cowboy hat routine... It looks ridiculous unless you're playing meaningful games (and reading the body language of the players in recent weeks - they agree)...
  5. Uh... you have to save money to make a run at retaining Ohtani - which only increases your chances of winning...
  6. For me - Fletch is a great piece to fit in a healthy and solid line-up that's clicking. A line-up that includes: Trout, Ohtani, Rendon, Rengifo, Walsh... If you're counting on him as a centerpiece in a thin line-up (see last night), you're going to be disappointed and frustrated... You need these types of pieces to make a deep run in the playoffs (think S. Speizio, M. Lemke, K. Lofton, C. Taylor, etc)... guys that put the ball in play and make things happen...
  7. They received a former number one overall pick... And a high-ceiling single-A outfielder... They wouldn't have received a #1 overall pick - and certainly not 2 picks, had Syndergaard walked...
  8. Did we improve this year's roster that was/is only headed to the scene of a violent crash... no (that's the whole point of being a "seller" at the trade deadline!)... Did we improve our future prospect base... yes (and we did so in areas of organizational need)... Did we better position ourselves financially to retain Ohtani... yes (and this point trumps the first two by an order of magnitude - for me anyway)...
  9. I've been a Marsh fan... Love watching him on D, but his struggles at the plate aren't too encouraging... He was starting to feel like Bourjos... I like that we got some good value at a premium position for a young guy that doesn't look to be panning out...
  10. Gore is hurt and his velo is down... Abrams his hitting .230 and not looking all that great at the plate... Hassell is in single-A ball... And for that the Pads get Soto.... and the Bell kicker.... (that's 2 MLB proven solid or better bats, for 3 weak loto tickets)... I'd be pissed if I was a Nats fan...
  11. That was a very suspect haul for such a solid player...
  12. Same... And I'll add: I actually think Shohei likes it here and would prefer to stay... Now Arte and Perry need to show Ohtani (and Trout) the commitment they both deserve as the two greatest players of this generation....
  13. Everyone keeps talking about and comping Soto - As though it's an actual comp!?!??! The Soto deal is the floor for Ohtani. Ohtani's a front-end starter AND an All-Star hitter (not to mention, he's AS capable as Soto, it not more so, on defense)... The biggest L this org could take, would be taking any deal comparable or similar to Soto...
  14. ...uh... where do you see another DeGrom and Scherzer laying around...?!?!?!?!?
  15. Dang Chuck - great memory! I can't recall what I did last week half the time - LOL!!!
  16. Thanks for sharing Chuck... And so sad to hear the news about Penny - I met her a few times at our functions over the years and her wit always made me smile... And thanks for the bump on Paul/Pablo's thread... He was a dear friend/co-worker/"Angels-season-ticket-holder-group" and I think of him often during my bike rides in SoCal...
  17. Uh... have you seen Toronto's line up: Bichette, Biggio, Guerrero...??
  18. Thanks AO… now I don’t feel so bad - LOL! I think (if it’s as bad as I suspect) that it’s a noteworthy topic for discussion…
  19. So that's 17 losses in one-run games... where does that rank...?
  20. Apologies for not being as tech-savvy as many on the board, but I actually did spend some time trying to find the answer today and was unsuccessful... Who leads MLB in one-run losses... I'll be shocked if we're not in the top 3... I can't remember an Angels squad that seemed to lose more of them...
  21. PS - Hey Mikey, we’re in your f-ing backyard bruh… how ‘bout you show up…!!!
