  1. Yeah... I wasn't gonna say anything... I figured it was that new public school math... close enough...
  2. Team Wins and Losses: 90-72 Team Runs Scored: 844 Playoff Berth (Yes or No): Yup Team MVP: Ohtani Most HR: Trout Most RBI: Trout Most SB: Rengifo Highest Batting Average: Rengifo Lowest ERA (starting pitcher): Ohtani Most W's (starting pitcher): Anderson Most Saves: Estevez Most Impressive Rookie: Ohoppe
  3. Bobby Valentine is painful to listen to.... I want to like him - I just don't want to hear him... Ditto for Roger "honk" on the radio... What scrap heap do we get these guys from...?!?!?!
  4. Super cool graphic… Fun to watch how Trout compresses the scale -LOL! And lots of names from the 2002 WS team on that list… just sayin….
  5. We hope he's "willing to do whatever it takes to bring in Ohtani"... but it's far from a "100% yes" (and we won't know until Ohtani actually signs his next contract)... He's saying the right things, but I can't be the only person that got a chill down his spine by the thought that this could just end up being public posturing and propaganda... I hope I'm wrong...
  6. I miss the days of the burners: Henderson, Willie Wilson, Vince Coleman, Tim Raines, Ozzie, et al... those dudes were fun to watch... way more so than the station-to-station brand of today...
  7. Whoa... Don't bring those critical thinking skills up in here! This is the AW forum in the information age bro - we only tail spin on headlines and half-truths that conveniently align with our narrative... Get in line and get on board....!
  8. Swapped Andrew Velazquez, Matt Duffy, Tyler Wade, Jack Mayfield, Michael Stefanic, Jose Rojas, Jonathan Villar, Phil Gosselin and David MacKinnon (1099 PA, -3.3 WAR) for Gio Urshela and Brandon Drury (1119 PA, 5.4 WAR) That's a huge and impactful swing...
  9. 4. Joswa Lugo, Shortstop Lugo is a high-waisted shortstop prospect with some of the better power upside observed. The 6-foot-2, 165-pound frame can hold a ton of strength and when the physical maturity really begins to happen he should be a true middle of the order threat with run saving ability on the left side for years to come. ly begins to happen he should be a true middle of the order threat with run saving ability on the left side for years to come.
  10. Angels sign Felix Morrobel (SS) from the Domincan for $900K... In before "who"... In before "the piece"...
  11. I think Kluber sets up to be a better fit.... And the Eovaldi terms just might help...
  12. Peace PB... I should know better than to throw out a half-cooked thought in this forum - my phone was at 2% and I was trying to squeeze the post in - my bad... The point that I was trying to make wrt Rengifo was - yeah, I see his numbers... but for some reason, with him in particular - they just don't jive with what I saw last year (particularly in the 2nd half)... he was constantly in the thick of it on the basepaths, at the plate, and in the field: at meaningful times (albeit on a team WELL out of contention, so what is "meaningful" really?)... As the season wore on, he got better... and he's only 25... and he's a capable MI... Oddly, there appears to be at least a few clubs interested in him and what he brings to the field every day, so maybe others are seeing what I'm seeing...? I'll admit - I had to look up RE24... and I had lasik... Maybe it's time for a touch-up...??? Merry Christmas :)...
  13. Holy cow Maddon…!!! I guess the game is played on a stat sheet - you win…. I like Ward… but his season last year reminded me of GA…. ie: who cares if you hit a 2-run bomb when your team is up or down 6 runs…??? What I saw with my eyes with Rengifo was how often he was in the middle of everything - moving runners, advancing 1st to 3rd, clutch hits in meaningful games/situations… I get it - mine is an impression vs your “RE24” (???) I appreciate stats as a tool… but not as a crutch that ignores context…
  14. DO NOT TRADE Rengifo!!!! Come on people - just because you can, doesn’t mean you should…..!!!! Rengifo carried this lineup far more than Ward did last season (and I’m not hating on Ward)… I think Rengifo is proving to be special…. Not spectacular, but an exceptional “glue guy”…! I love how Minasian is tightening the screws on Rendon!!! Prove to the club we can count on you, or we’ll move on…. We get it… you’re too blessed to be stressed… and you and the Vernon Wells of the world can enjoy your umbrella drinks on some island while clowning about how your mediocrity got over on some MLB club… or you can demonstrate some personal pride and teach your kids what it means to earn a paycheck….
  15. It's fine if Randazzo is "in the mix"... Rojas will need someone to fetch him some coffee....
  16. The only thing that could piss me off for the remainder of this off season, is us bungling finding a way to get Rojas back where he belongs!
  17. I continue to think that a return for Thor makes a lot of sense - for both sides... Another short-term deal would give the Angels long term flexibility and provides Noah another chance to prove his return to health - while pitching in a six-man rotation...
  18. Thought first occurred to me the other day: I'd love to see the new ownership group shed this "LAA" nonsense... Bring back that classic "CA"...!
  19. Sorry missed the fWAR reference... but agree with you - with Ohtani as the lone "pilot program", I think fWAR has room for improvement... wrt downside of combining elements vs. two seperate players... I get where you're going and I don't disagree.... but don't discount the added value of having a whole other roster spot to address another need on your roster....
  20. With all due respect AJ - I guess you have to start with some baseline... but as far as I know, WAR stats don't consider Ohtani's pitching impact... I think his value baseline starts in absolute terms in both an offensive perspective AND a pitching perspective: If you compare Ohtani's impact, on the offensive side alone, to his peers (and don't even consider that he's no slouch on defense at 1B/OF) - wouldn't he EASILY slot in as a bargain at $30M/yr...?? (Think about relative value: He's not worth $10M less than Judge/yr or $8M less than Rendon or $2M less than Stanton or Cabrera (both old DHs) per year)...! Add on top of that his value solely as a pitcher the last two years - and he's a bargain at $30M/yr...!!! (he's not $13M less than Verlander/Scherzer or $6M less than Cole)....!!! Combine those values and that's a BARGAIN at $60M...!!! And all of the: "he-can't-do-both-forever"... sure... okay... but he is now... and he's likely to be able to do both for at least half of a 10 year contract given his age - he'll always hit... and if/when he shows some wear and tear as an SP - you can move to the bully as a top-flight reliever (with his make-up - I wouldn't bet against him as a nails closer!)... that kind of flexibility exists - all of nowhere... Dude has no comp...
  21. I don't understand all of the enthusiasm and interest in moving Rengifo... What I saw from him last year - I want to keep in our lineup for a long time...
