  1. Hoping to see: 1. An injury free ST for all the major pieces. 2. A contract extension for Ohtani. Get it done "unfinished business" guy. 3. The clear cut emergence of Canning as the 6th starter. 4. O'Hoppe earn an opening day roster spot and project to finish in the ROY top three. 5. Walsh show he can be above replacement level even if it is only against RHP's.
  2. I'm ok with this rule now. I got used to it watching my boys play travel ball.
  3. Barria as the 6th starter is interesting because he could hold a hybrid role - 16 to 18 starts and availability as a long reliever in the weeks they don't need a 6th starter. I had been thinking it was going to be a competition between Canning, Silseth and Davidson. It still may be...
  4. It's such an Arte move to talk to the New York Post/Heyman instead of the local media. In the past this would have pissed me off but now I don't really care that Arte has a "special" relationship with Heyman.
  5. One thing of note with Ohtani is the impact he has on team strategy. Many teams are now using the DH as a vehicle for load management. In the Angels case it would mean giving days at DH to Rendon, Trout, Renfroe, etc. It keeps them in the lineup but gives them rest throughout the season.
  6. So coming back from shoulder surgery - a $1.1 M risk with a lot of upside. This feels like a very Dodger signing.
  7. I thought they are projected in the $24,024,213 listed as "Est. Arbitration Salaries". If not, then what is it?
  8. Yeah, I'm thinking he'll start the season in AA with the Pandas.
  9. I am no expert but Spotrac seems reliable to me. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/los-angeles-angels/payroll/
  10. I had no idea Justin Bour was still in the game. I remembered he went to Japan in 2020 after the stint with the Angels but that's it. I looked it up and from Japan he went to Giants AAA/Sacramento, to Korea and then closed it out in Mexico last year.
  11. Actually, Johnny Bench was pretty consistent.
  12. Nothing on the search except from this thread...
  13. Stassi will get $14 M over the next two years so he's here. Let's hope he can improve his 2022 OPS+ of 62. I'm not high on Sanchez but if they don't think O'Hoppe is ready they will need another option. My hope is that O'Hoppe makes the opening day roster and gets the majority of the starts this year. He finishes in the top 3 of the ROY voting and the Angels get an additional draft pick.
  14. I mentioned the exception of a trade on another post but we're talking about Andrus. He's not an upgrade and they have plenty of depth.
  15. This makes very little sense at this point. They already have 6 infielders on MLB contracts - Walsh, Fletcher, Rendon, Rengifo, Urshela and Drury. They are not going to carry 7.
  16. Spotrac has Andrus market value at $4.5 M now, down from $10 M. But the Angels don't have a spot for him unless there is an injury or a trade. And Spotrac has Sanchez at a market value of $6.4 M.
  17. So you think Andrus is going to sign a MiLB contract? There is not a roster spot for him.
  18. It's difficult to predict from year to year but I think we are good for now and have some young arms on the way.
  19. I hope O'Hoppe wins the job in ST. I think Thaiss will be the odd man out.
