True Grich: Salmon's mouthing (That's the farthest ball I've ever seen") is one of my lasting memories of that World Series. Angels' teamwork triumphed over individual (enhanced) performances.

524 is unbelievable (the true meaning of the word).

I thought being beaned meant hit in the head on their bean.
Aybar was hit in the head.

I thought the umpire performed worse than Ohtani did.

We're very fortunate to have him posting here. His is the only reporter's column I read online these days. Count me in as one who really appreciates the work that he does and the info he shares with us.
My only wish is for him to call posters dumbasses once in a while.
(I reserve the right to change my mind and hate him if I find out he's a southern cal fan)

Oh, I get it. Good thing Jeff doesn't work for the LA Times.

Please go to the OCR web site often. If you see stories you like, share them with your friends on social media.
Feel free to even buy a newspaper once in a while.
What's a newspaper? Isn't that what people used to make hats and boats out of? Maybe start a fire with?

Even FiveThirtyEight is getting in on the Ohtani wave.

He plaid 2B, 3B, LF, and RF for the Padres. So at worse he is Valbuena's replacement and at best he is Troy Glaus's replacement (a power-hitting 3B).
To be clear, the ball jumps off his bat.
By the way, he is two years older than Carlos Perez, has played the same number of years, and has acquired the same WAR.
Great trade Eppler, well done.

Man, lol.
Sunday morning: WHY IS SCHIMPF EVEN BEING CALLED UP!?
Monday morning: OUR FUTURE 3B!
Not picking on you, but it's just funny seeing how quickly sentiment changes.
I don't think you are picking on me. But we can agree to disagree on talent.
I think Eppler has found a diamond in the rough. I think San Diego and Atlanta gave up on him too early. I don't mind a low batting average as long as it brings along with it a high slugging percentage. The only question I have is the quality of defense at 3rd.
My point in starting this topic was that there is a lot going on in the club right now; while many will be watching Ohtani, I will be watching Schimpf.

Wow, what a slip. I miss Rory. Terry. Thanks for all the corrections.

Haha, sure. Albert did it.
Like I said, Rory mentioned Albert in several spring training broadcasts. Let's refer to Jeff on this.

Ohtani's outstanding start overshadowed Ryan Schimpf's excellent start. Heck, even his teammates forgot to give Schimpf the now traditional silent treatment for his first home run, which also was his first hit as an Angel. Could Schimpf be the Angel's 3rd baseman of the future?

Link?
It was mentioned on several spring broadcasts. Here's an article from Angels but it doesn't credit Albert.

As he did with Trout, Albert's advice to Ohtani (get rid of high leg kick) already producing dividends. I think the question should be how long will Ohtani keep taking advice. I hope for a long time.

Not a big fan of Noe Ramirez other than he has a cool name. He looked very hittable during spring training. Maybe I'm too old school but throwing across his body looks like he is going to have a lot of accuracy issues as well.

It's fun to go. However, the seats are tiny; I had to put my arm around my father the whole game during a hot and humid afternoon. It was fun to watch the unique outfield culture. Here's my story:
My dad and I were sitting along the third base seats close to the outfield. A Red's player hit a ground rule double that bounced just inside left-field line and into the third base bleachers. The outfield crowd started to chant at the Cubs fan who got the ball: "Throw it back!" So the guy belatedly does but during play. So the ushers (dressed in Khaki pants that reminded me of the Brown Shirts [Sturmabteilung]) start approaching this guy from all angles. Once they surround him, they go to remove him and that outfield crowd starts yelling at the ushers: "Let him stay!" The ushers back off and the crowd goes wild. The Cub fan hold up his three-year-old kid, dressed entirely in Cubby attire, and both sections go nuts. That scene paid for the tickets by itself.
Have fun!

Possible name changes:
Halos to Ohnos
Angels to DLs
California Angels to DLforya Angels
Los Angeles Angels of Tommy Johns's

I'll edit my response to add a sarcasm emoji; hopefully, that will help.

I would prefer Derek Holland.

And I was fortunate enough to be there in person for it, and celebrate the long awaited hoisting of the AL pennant.
So here's the real question: was AK's performance and that title worth the trade of Jim Edmonds?

Yep, and the 3rd homer came after Scioscia asked him to bunt, he failed on the bunt try and ended up hitting another homer that gave the angels the lead. Nice call Scioscia.
Of course, to be fair, that was the only time AK's upper-cut swing seemed to be effective. Still one of the greatest performances and greatest memories in Angels history.
