I don't know about that. I think Arte is really trying to stay out of baseball operations, I think it was more of a cursory " whatever you think Perry, it's your decision." Personally I think Arte has reached the age where he doesn't want to be involved in the day to day mess, he has other things in his life that are more important.

A lot of what this writer said was good, but he missed the mark on Trout's frustration showing in center field when he thought Peguero was tipping pitches. Peguero was intentionally doing that just to throw off the hitters, he practically threw all the same pitches to the hitters even though he was trying to distract them into thinking he was going to throw something else. The TV announcers (primarily Gubi) covered that this weekend on some commentary. I was surprised when they were talking about it. In any event the hitters liked the one pitch he was throwing because they blasted it all over the field.

I agree. There were a lot of decisions made by the baseball office that I disagree with. I would have done the following: Picked up a talented SS in the off season when they were plentiful (like Story, or Chris Taylor), and in retrospect that would have eliminated the need for Velasquez, Mayfield, and Wade. I would not have signed Thor as I thought his price was too high. I would have not dropped Upton as he was hot in Spring Training, at least not until there had more major league history on Marsh and Adel. I would have not fired Maddon, his experience was too valuable. I would have given more latitude to Maddon, and not meddled so much with regard to coaching staff and in game decision making. There were a lot of reliable starters available when the off season started, and too many were bypassed. Things I did agree with: I thought signing Lorenzen and letting him try starting was a good idea, especially given that he could revert to the bullpen as necessary. Strengthening the bullpen was a good idea, but couldn't Perry have found some younger and harder throwers?

I would not be surprised at all if Perry Minasian picks up Kyle Tyler.

Minasian is grasping at straws, maybe if he picks up enough of them one will eventually blossom. Right now my level of confidence in what he has picked up is extremely low.

Until this organization learns to recognize real talent, and then develop and use it properly there is no hope. I agree with True Grich that a winning culture has not been implemented, mostly because of poor decisions being made by the baseball organization within this team.

I had no hope that the brawl would turn this season around. This team already seemed together in spirit, but short on talent. And that was not addressed properly during this past off season. I also had no hope that firing an experienced manager would turn this season around. That move was purely emotional by the GM.

Please start by replacing this GM, I don't think he has any idea of what he's doing.

The Braves are try to help Minasian keep his job with the Angels, as they don't want Minasian to come back.

Fighting is about the least efficient way of "firing up a team." The reality, if suspensions are involved, is that it can easily make winning harder.

I would go with the weak offensive performance at 2nd, 3rd and SS, plus I believe the inconsistency of the bullpen setup arms is right up there as well. Actually all of Minasian's off season signings have underperformed with the exception of Lorenzen. Proper overall depth was not really addressed effectively. Manager replacement should have been addressed in the coming off season with someone more experienced than Nevin. Actually, when it comes down to manager this organization has had only four managers with records better than .500. 2000-2018 Mike Scioscia 1650-1428, 1981-1987 Gene Mauch 379-332, 1989-1991 Doug Rader 232-216, and 1976-1977 Norm Sherry 76-71.

He should be help accountable, it was not well conceived.

Gilbert is 2-0 lifetime against the Angels, and has only given up 1 home run in five home starts this season. Can we please manufacture some runs and not really rely so much on home runs.

Quijada just made the point AO. The seeds of trouble were sown last off season by Minasian when he loaded up the setup staff with soft tossers. Then he compounded it by emotionally firing a manager without a prime replacement to shift the blame and focus away from himself. If we could have saved just a few of those games lost during the losing streak even without Redon we would be in a better place regarding the playoffs.

I think we need to dip into the Rocket City Trash Pandas for help after we fire the entire infield left of first base, and get rid of every reliever who can't throw the ball faster than 94 mph.

He won't have to do it, when Trout and Ohtani asked to be traded to New York for him it will be a done deal. Then Minasian will have that smug little look on his face thinking it was a smart move.
