It's pretty much impossible to play 85' brand of baseball these days, pretty much all prospects are HR hitters now, and with that strikeout rates are up. Power ball is the name of the game now. The game just isn't built around the scrappy players anymore, scouts avoid finesse/speed and go for brute strength and bat speed/pitch speed. It's rare to find guys like Fletcher anymore.

He’s had a chance the last five years and couldn’t stay healthy starting...
And they can still stretch him out as the year goes on, or next year if he’s proven he can stay on the field.
Chris Sale didn’t make a start until his third season in the bigs. The Dodgers regularly give their SPs innings in relief even after they’ve brought them up for starts.

Upton will hopefully be that headache in the middle of the lineup that pitchers forgot about, "oh yeah this guy... ****".
He's also a Mariner killer. We need Mariner killers.

This is all that really needs to be said.
I mean, it's absolutely a concern. We have really just 1 reliable guy and a bag of peanuts. You know the thing.
But given how volatile relievers are, can we really go into the season saying "yeah this is a great bullpen" regardless of whether we added a bunch of "good" relievers? They have to perform. We'll see a lot of moving parts the first couple months and hopefully Maddon will find a group that can get outs.

Someone's upselling the available relief pitchers, 'no bullpen' is a big overstatement. I think ours could be very good if luck is on our side, and it's not going to be as bad or worse than last season. Our biggest issue was not having a closer which led us to leading the league in blown saves.
