  1. When the ridiculous happens, the ridiculous keeps happening
  2. So we'll have the most salary tied up in two players in baseball history and one of the most expensive and lopsided payrolls ever. I mean, if you still can't win a WS after that what good are these huge contracts hampering the rest of the team? I feel like a big contract is the anti-thesis to what this club needs right now. Everything, every gain we've seen has been grown here, few pitchers let alone players come here and succeed. Last thing Arte needs to do is be re-enabled (assuming he changed his mind this season). This is our chance to show him you can't buy a ring, you really can't... He can finally learn that teams are grown from the inside out not the outside in. This is about principle and saving our future. Don't be like the Dodgers, be like the Rays.
  3. Me, I predicted Walsh's uprising. Just kidding, forreal though I think we just got lucky finally. Talent is starting to show up now that we have some friendly competition. Ward however was a complete surprise, opening up his stance and letting the ball get deep in the zone raised his babip a ton. He's made Adell look beyond useless for us, even Marsh looks better now.
  4. Adell and Marsh along with a few others including a successful Ward Trout etc gives us probably the best outfield depth in baseball. Upton is a wild card and could very well be better next season. If Rengifo can just be a poor man's Kendrick or what I call 'pedestrian', we are Gucci on infield depth. I expect big things from Rengifo eventually though.
  5. If anything it made Adell expendable, although it would NOT be wise to trade him during his lowest value ever. I personally project Adell to be an Upton type at best, super streaky with too much power for his own good, and will always somewhat struggle against RHP. Defensively he just doesn't seem to be mentally stable like an OFer should, his speed will make up for lack of ball-tracking ability... A good hitting OFer but nothing to lose sleep over, might be an All-Star a few times over a long career if he stays healthy, might hit 40 bombs once or twice during his peak. Adell likely won't command the same salary as Upton eventually did, since the league is wising up.
  6. We could save money too, God knows how much Arte has lost during the pandemic, and honestly our rotation isn't nearly as big of an issue as it's being made out to be, and we have plenty of arms in the wait already (Ohtani can't be sidelined with his ability) Ohtani will leave us if we don't give him the opportunities he deserves. It's our defense and volatile bullpen, and if you recall RISP issues AND the lineup totally screwed us out of tons of wins early on in the season. The hitting coaches seemed to have figured out what our young guys needed, and Callaway seems to be correcting the bullpen/rotation too as we speak. We really don't need to make any changes this off-season, except maybe a reliable bullpen arm and a reliable backup infielder. The team chemistry is there and you can feel it, haven't felt this since 2009. I really feel like someone's feelings (Arte etc) are going to end up damaging our chances next season. Doing things because the record didn't line up with their prior expectations, gutting our future to potentially gain a few extra wins in the near term. God, I hope Arte doesn't interfere.
  7. What's good is we don't need a GM with a 160 IQ this off-season, just sign a reliable 2 or 3 starter or go with what we have in Ohtani filling the Teheran gap, and sign/trade for a starter if Ohtani doesn't pan out early in the season (Ohtani is still capable of being a dominant starter, reliable at least). And obtain a closer-style reliable bullpen arm or two that are recommended by Callaway, Richards would be a nice surprise. We could save A LOT of money this off-season and get a half-decent draft pick. The best news is the upside that we wouldn't have had if we tanked like the Red Sux. Things are looking up like never before actually.
  8. So if we sign Bauer, we'll have the most expensive everyday player and most expensive pitcher on the same team, we must be guaranteed a WS right?
  9. I'd like to see Arte NOT sign anybody big this off-season. Everything positive we've seen has mostly come from within and I think it will continue with this elite coaching. We might turn out being kind of like the Rays and A's, where we magnify the talent we have and don't need to sign super stars every off-season. Sure, maybe one reliable arm, but splurging on an ace-like arm and with our luck it won't work out for the best. And a 25-30MM pitcher will set us back payroll wise quite a bit for the future. Arte needs to prove he's not just a man who parts with money but also a frugal investor in his ballclub's future. And right now we have team chemistry that shouldn't be messed with. We also have some talented arms in the wing ready to replace Teheran next season, one of them being Ohtani.
  10. If we make the playoffs Simba really hurts his value and will be remembered for this decision. If we don't make the playoffs, most will forget this even happened.
  11. Not many teams have or ever had a decent chance to make the playoffs from a .1% chance two games ago, If we pull this off it's the ultimate Cinderella story.
  12. Reds would be fools not to resign him, they are technically contenders just as much as us. Even more so this year obviously.
  13. A lot of teams have been dreading the Angels of early 2000s, we're back baby. I hope we change uniforms this off-season to signify the new look Angels. Red, dark navy blue and white are our true home colors tbh.
  14. Nothing like a local fan succeeding in the majors, grats Sandy
  15. LMAO Pujols third base coach? nevermind, but that would been funny
  16. I hate to see it but Trout isn't really the most exciting player on the team anymore.
  17. That umpire was shifted like 4 inches to the inside of the plate, and his zone was 4 inches off. How the **** is Ohtani supposed to hit a ball up and in 4 inches?
  18. Fletcher is officially a bad ball hitter, Vlad White Jr
  19. I changed some of the stats, but 400 OBP wasn't even his best in the minors. He got up to .405 .42 .426
