This is a poor use of resources in my opinion.  
Cobb isn't very good.  
Jones isn't a great prospect, but he's a decent one.  Just because he's down on the depth chart, you don't just give him away.  
It's gonna cost somewhere around 5m.  There are a crap ton of other players I'd rather have for that.  
And to top it off, you are getting another guy with one year of control.  Which in this case is fine by me because the chances we'll want Cobb around next year are slim to none anyway.  

Watching other teams trade crap prospects for Arenado and frontline SP makes this frustrating 

If the Angels are done with regards to their starting pitching I will be disappointed. I'd still like for the club to acquire a Marquez type or just back up the MF truck up of cash for Bauer. Trade Heaney for prospects or a reliever. Sign a RF. 

To me, dealing Jones here levels out the fairly light return we had to give up for Raisel Iglesias. Swapping out Jones for Rivas there and putting Rivas in for Cobb feels more equitable.

So Matt Moore can be had for 3 million and no prospect, but Alex Cobb costs 7.5 million and a top 10 prospect in the system.

Chuck...you had hair when Cobb last had under a 3 era. Cmon man.  He's not good, there's no defending giving up our #7 prospect to pay a #6 starter 7.5 million.

Cobb would be a minor league deal with in an invite to spring if he were a FA.  Except the Angels are going to pay him $7.5 mil.
I think I mentioned that there would be a head scratcher type deal for a pitcher.  My entire scalp just broke out with psoriasis.

Sidenote, ae we actually planning on having a team in 22?  WE dont seem to want to acquire anyone past this year, lol 

Even if is just Cobb, much like Quintana, if he gives us 30 GS/180 IP, 4.25 ERA, we're in good shape.
