  1. Now if only they can run the bases well (hear that LaStella?!?)
  2. Cool win. I was going to start my "Kerplunk for Kumar" (Rocker) motto for the rest of the season. Hopefully this is a start to having something better now to dream about (i.e., playoffs).
  3. Next 6 games are against arguably two of the top 4 teams in MLB (A's/LAD). Yes, the 5-11 start could get worse before it gets better.
  4. That’s worse than Conseco imo. At least Jose lost the ball - albeit it’s embarrassing it hit him on the empty head of his. But this....wow. At least he brought something new to the Bball fans
  5. Can we get Adell taking balls at 1B and get a real OFer Marsh to take his place shhheeeeshhh
  6. We all do some illegal things under state law — from big to small (speeding). But we know it’s illegal. We usually don’t get caught. But when we do - say speeding, we know it and you deal with the consequences (traffic school, paying fine, etc.). We don’t yell blame at everyone else for it and say all laws should be abolished because I’m too important and immature to handle the consequences of my actions. Maybe the speed in that section is too low and should be higher and you wouldn’t get a ticket. But be a man and own up to it. now should drugs, chemically enhanced/ created, drugs be legal. That’s a rabbit hole discussion right now. Fact is, 2019/2020, it’s illegal. Both parties knew it and knew the consequences. Stop momming for them.
  7. Well said Jeff. look, there’s obviously no winners here - just losers. Skaggs is to blame for his death. Nobody forced him to do drugs. Nobody pulled that trigger. It’s his fault 100%. If Kay wasn’t around, there’d be another Kay in his place for Skaggs. But that doesn’t mean Kay isn’t doing something illegal and bad. He should be punished for his actions — murder no way. But he was doing something illegal under the law and you do the crime, you do the time.
  8. Ummm, what? Maybe you should review my post a little closer. First off, I said 1st round picks before 2020. Between 2016-2019 four 1st round picks -- ZERO of them were pitchers. That's a problem. Second, i said "Even some of the 2-5th round picks the past 4 drafts....more should have gone to Ps". I don't know why you are bringing up picks past round 5. That's my whole point -- those pitchers are not typically going to turn into stud guys. We were drafting senior type easy sign RPs or SP to turn into RP. Basically the peanut types Eppler loves and hoping you can either catch lightening in a bottle or get a decent middle RP guy. The fact that you can name one drafted guy (canning) in rounds 1-4 between 2016-2019 makes my point crystal clear. There's also Chris Rodriguez (2016 4th round), Swana & booker (4th/5th round 2017), 3-5th rounds in 2018 and 2019 (two were two-way guys though). So in four drafts, only ONE pitcher out of the 8 selections for the first two rounds. That's NOT enough for the elite draft picks. You can't do that over four drafts. Past round 2, you are really getting some low percentage hit rate. Now look at who we got in the Int'l market and spent our money on. Find me a top P in our spending since Eppler came aboard. The one great move he did was Othani. But that's a different story than the true int'l market guys. Even there, he's a 2-way player. Even then, it wasn't our top $$$. It's all spent on SS/OFs. "More" -- meaning more
  9. I don't blame Eppler here that much. He was limited when he came in due to a horrible farm system and limited funds (with bloated payroll). So he had to find peanuts everywhere and reclamation projects. He's done a very good job with those limited funds and assets -- especially in the BP. But this offseason was the year...and he failed. But maybe some of that was out of his hands (can't force guys to sign here) and he did get Rendon. But there is a case to be made that he should have used some funds this offseason to help the BP. That's a hard thing to do because BP guys are so hit/miss from year-to-year. So i don't blame him there either. Trades for SP are hard to do -- especially when most our top guys are so young and at low levels. So again, can't blame him too much. Do you really want him to gut the fragile farm syste, by giving up 4-5 guys? No. Where i do blame him his via the draft and international. Failing to use 1st round picks (until 2020) on Ps was a fail imo. Even some of the 2-5th round picks the past 4 drafts....more should have gone to Ps. Just my opinion. Whether those guys are SPs or turned into top RPs. All our RPs being brought up seem to be middle inning RP types; not impact arms. Imagine a May or Civale on this team. Or just a top young near 100 mph throwing closer type RP.
  10. If the trend holds, we're looking at around June 15, 2022 for the next CG.
  11. Alex Trebek on Jeopardy: what's a two word name in baseball when starting pitcher goes all 9 innings? All Angels fans: blank stare.....3, 2, 1 beeeeep
  12. I can't wait to see what the lineup will look like the last 10 games of the season. Oh boy that's gonna be fun and some good baseball.
  13. Did Eppler draft Thaiss? It's pretty apparent now that Thaiss as a #16 OA draft pick has not panned out at all and was a bad pick. I was surprised (& disappointed) at his selection on draft day and it's turned out to be a rare correct assessment. This along with the unmitigated disaster of last year's Will Wilson pick at 15...just bad. I am a fan of Eppler and he had a huge mountain to climb rebuilding the LAA organization from the bottom up after bonehead's destruction. But missing so badly on good 1st round picks just can't happen. Yes i know draft picks are a crap shot....but we needed to hit on these. Such a small margin of error with this team trying to both rebuild the farm and content during Trouts prime years. The Wilson pick was extra bad. But even the good picks are still TBD -- who knows if Adams, Adell, Detmers or even his picks outside the 1st round will become anything. The shine is finally starting to come off of Eppler for me. I hope it's temporary and we turn this thing around.
  14. If you feel like crap with angels- don’t look at LAD/SD game today (Stripling...And Joc alert).
  15. I thought Marsh was actually more athletic and better defensively than Adell. Maybe i am mis-remembering...or just missing brain cells. Also, don't we have enough 1Bman and guys who may eventually need to transition to 1B eventually (in a bad way).
  16. Many to choose from. Only tough choice is which ones we HAVE to keep.
  17. The difference with hockey is that the losing team still gets a point for the tie. The winner gets an extra point. i can’t stand the new rule. I’d prefer either end in a tie (because of the CV situation for one year) or give the losing team a tie rather than a Straight up loss. heck I might even just prefer having one guy get 5 pitches for HR derby. The hockey shootout route. It’s a similar wackiness as now and ends the game quickly. And fun wackiness for fans. A team winning on two sacrifices is lame.
  18. Look up - that bird flying over your head is named sarcasm
  19. Everybody knows the first TJ surgery is just a place holder for #2. I can’t wait to see Ohtani throwing darts after that 2nd TJ Surgery. It’s gonna be great. The future is bright.
