  1. New sales pitch angle to Ohtani and his agent: We are trying *NOT* to win 100 games here, so this is obviously the place you want to be.
  2. Also Trout and Ohtani had more birdies and eagles than Betts and Freeman did over the last week!
  3. Yeah, I can't believe they cut the length of the article about the Angels ALDS playoff game action just to squeeze this fluff in.
  4. Yeah, let's see how many more times we can get @jsnpritchett (aka Overly Attached S--tposter) to post in this thread that he hates.
  5. And for your nightmare fuel, consider the possibility of one of our tougher AL West rivals missing the playoffs then getting the first overall pick. 0.2% chance as of right now.
  6. We're in the 8 spot today, which weirdly means 9th is the highest probability pick we get post-lottery. https://www.tankathon.com/mlb/pick_odds
  7. And who told you my nickname was Turbo? Have you been talking to my wife?
  8. Only on the Angels message board is the above considered relatively no big deal.
  9. So, DFA Schanuel now? Or just non-tender him in the offseason? I mean, he's negative WAR, so... Also, here's a table showing Schanuel is literally the worst player selected in the entire draft this year, as his WAR is below every other player drafted in all rounds! https://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?year_ID=2023&draft_round=1&draft_type=junreg&query_type=year_round#draft_stats
  10. I expect to read a lot of negative stuff on this board, that's the nature of it. But one thing I really didn't think I'd be reading this year is "the drafts by Perry/McIlvaine are bad". This is bonkers to me. I, for one, am glad we have "Low Ceiling" Neto and don't have to read the "should we sign Elvis Andrus to fill the hole at SS" threads this winter.
  11. Let's go full Elmo Nuclear mode and roll out Brett Phillips as opener. Just to see it.
  12. Things I learned from this article: 1. Ward-o has a wife. When did this happen? Was all that Taylor Swift talk just about making Taylor+Taylor jokes? 2. There is a medical condition that doctors will describe as "skull was loose".
  13. Dude, you have no idea what Perry would do with a #1 overall pick. First overall is different than 11 or 12 or 13 overall. If there's a Alex Rodriguez/Ken Griffey Jr type HS player (i.e. an ultra-elite talent who will move quickly), then there's no reason to think Perry would pass on that kind of player. Luckily for your feeble prediction, 1) we won't get the #1 overall pick, and 2) right now the most likely guys who would go first overall in 2024 are college players.
  14. And since we're talking top 2025 high school prospects, here's another one whose dad you've also probably heard of.
  15. I hope so, otherwise he's gonna have to switch to basketball. This is last year. Already as tall as dad, taller than the older brother.
  16. Yep, there's a lottery now. Top six are set via the ping pong balls. All non-playoff teams can move into the top 6, but it drops off fast. https://www.tankathon.com/mlb/pick_odds
  17. I agree with this, but it's still somewhat faint praise. It impresses us only because we're so traumatized by all those times Ausmus pulled the starter in the 3rd/4th with only 45-55 pitches thrown, purely because there was a couple of runners on and the third time through the lineup was coming.
  18. I don't know what ya'll mean by "rebuild". You can't trade Trout, Rendon, or Anderson. So "rebuild" means you're keeping those guys and trading what we have of value, for even younger, less-proven players: Neto, O'Hoppe, Sandoval, Detmers, Schanuel. WTF do you all think that does? Is it all about losing 100 games and getting very high draft picks for the next five years? Or what?
  19. Actually, this gives me an idea...whichever GM can press the button at just right time, gets the player. I present to you: PRESS YOUR WAIVER WIRE LUCK
