  1. Dammit @calsthis one was put right on a tee for you. Back to regular programming……
  2. As of right now (well since last Friday) over 1100 players have abandoned their teams and entered the transfer portal. That’s as of Monday night. That number can be 1200-1300 right now. Oregon State has lost their starter AND their backup to the portal after their coach left them high and dry on his way to Michigan State. This is happening at a lightning pace. Georgia, Mississippi State, Duke, UCLA, etc have all lost their starting QB’s to the portal. It’s truly the start of the demise of college football as we used to know it. And this is coming from a guy who cherishes what the game of college football was like for 45 years. It pains me.
  3. Well here we go, let the free agency…..ahem, transfer portal BS begin. Some very interesting names have already entered the portal with more to follow. Dante Moore, DJ Unga……, Riley Leonard, Will Rogers, just to name a few QB’s. Plenty of WR’s, OL, DL and grad transfers to choose from. Honestly, I’m OK with Grad Transfers as they have fulfilled the education requirement, but the no penalty transfer portal is going to destroy college football teams and coupled with NIL money, will decimate smaller, mid major programs who won’t be able to compete with the big money donors. I’ve never been a fan of the portal and still aren’t.
  4. This is all really cool Coach-speak, but I find it hard to think that a guy like Nevin, or hell, even Austmus, didn’t have this same thinking. Nevin and Austmus both played the game and I’m fairly sure they were coached about situational hitting. It’s one thing to talk about situational hitting, but another to actually coach it. This is where it will be interesting next season. I hope Washington will be able to actually do it. It also means hitters need to make contact, a thing that a few Angels hitters had trouble doing last season.
  5. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. By the way, I’m not the biggest Corey Perry fan, in case that wasn’t obvious.
  6. Not sure if any of you saw the ending to the Alabama/Auburn game but it was insane. Auburn all but had the game won, up 24-20 with 40 seconds left and Alabama had a 4th and goal from their 31 yard line. YES, their 31 yard line after a bad snap lost them 20 yards. Milroe rolls out, Auburn only rushes 2 people and drops 9 into coverage, and Milroe proceeds to hit his receiver in the corner of the end zone for the go ahead TD. Auburn played 59:20 of great football then completely shit the bed. I’m pretty sure Hugh Freeze didn’t sleep a wink last night.
  7. I’m really looking forward to watching this OSU/Michigan game. Should be a great game.
  8. I’m not 100% sure he’s an owl, as he was pretty far away, but he had a brilliant white chest. He looked a little big to be a Falcon, but yeah, most owl’s are nocturnal.
  9. I saw this beautiful owl in the tree a couple days ago. He’s been in this tree a few times on our walks, so either it’s a great spot for fish, or he has a nest near by.
  10. Spot on. My neighbor up the street was sitting on his 2nd floor deck reading the paper with his 8 lb. Chihuahua sitting no further than 10 feet away. In an instant, an owl swooped down from one of the evergreen pines and took him. Right from under his nose. Unfortunately the owl lost his grip on the dog and dropped him from about 70 feet and the dog didn’t survive. But I have always remembered that incident, especially when I have my dog out on walks. Leash or not. Have to watch out for these little guys.
  11. @gotbeer, I’m kind of a “bird geek” and the picture of that Red Tail is pretty awesome. I just saw one swoop down about two weeks ago in Big Bear and grab a rabbit as I was walking my dog along the Bear Mountain Golf trail. Wildlife is cool when your high on the food chain.
  12. Thats it. I’m putting $100 on the Angels at +1600 now.
  13. I can only imagine that @Louis looking down today watching this F1 race and watching his beloved Bruins in the same day and thinking, “it doesn’t get much better than this.” Miss you buddy.
  14. I used to tell my kids whenever we were at The Big A and we would look over to Mike Trout and I’d say, “kids, always remember that you got to watch one of the greatest players to ever play the game of baseball.” Never in my life would I think I’d ever be able to watch someone raise the bar higher than Trout, but saying that I got to watch Shohei Ohtani play for many years live, is something I’ll always look back on and cherish. Like people who watched Ted Williams and Willie Mays did, except Ohtani did things not even those players could do. I hope he stays, but if he doesn’t, others will be able to say they saw him play in person also.
  15. New optimism Yet, battle scars still remain lather, rinse, repeat
  16. Did I miss the memo where it’s completely OK to go wear pajamas and slippers out in public? What the fuck? I started noticing it a year or so back, but it tended to be a certain demographic that was doing it. Now it’s everyone. Yesterday alone, I saw at least 6 people, all ages and demographics, wearing fucking pajamas and slippers as regular clothing. Guys AND girls. In Costco. At In N Out. At the bank. I used to think that the old drawstring sweatpants were the laziest clothes ever (and a pretty sure sign that the girl wearing them was on her period) but pajamas and slippers in public is worse. Put some real clothes on people.
  17. I was lucky enough to see the very last Smiths concert at Universal Amphitheater in August 1986. My good friend was working event security and scored me 2 front row tickets. Back in those days, I was a giant Smiths fan (not a solo Morrissey fan) and they played a great show. It was their last tour as The Smiths in Southern California and I just remember that Johnny Marr was completely awesome in that show.
