It's not on the list for good reason but damn.... Waking up that early December morning in 2011 to the news of Pujols signing in Anaheim quickly followed by CJ Wilson. That was absolutely insane. Had MLB Network on tv while getting ready for work. Hauling ass in my car so I can get to work and keep up with the news and what's happening here on the board.

The 2015 team just missed the playoffs by a game. Hasn't been that long at all. A sudden GM rivalry beginning on Katella Ave. Eppler pulls the trigger on the big name. GMBM brings in a fossil in Beauch.

Also factor in the taxes. If Upton opts out and re-signs here getting that pay bump would negate the tax differences. A few million over 4-6 seasons doesn't seem like much but it's still millions more than he would've received. No reason not to try.

Nate, Every single Dman on that list is easily more valuable than Beauch. The only two Beauch compares to on that list are old man Rozsival and Jordie Benn. Now tell me. Would you want either of those two on this team? So why not just save the dough and go with the kids? You said yourself it isn't a big deal to have Beauch play for a month/month and a half to fill in. Why can't Larsson or Megna do that? Their speed alone will help them adapt and cover some of their inexperience. Beauch was literally the worst player by corsi in 2016 at -257. Granted, he was on the Avs but if he couldn't cut it with them what the heck makes you think he'll even break camp with us.

Whether it's 1 year or 5 years. It's a deal that shouldn't have been made. FFS, the guy was going to retire until GMBM called.

The point I was making is GMBM has absolutely zero success with Dmen trades or FA signings. He knows how to draft and that's about it. Again, $1 million is essentially chump change. Beauch on the ice is gonna cost us. When he couldn't cut it on the worst team in the NHL what makes you think he'll even be remotely serviceable for us? Hampus and Sami are our till probably Thanksgivingish? A month and a half or so of the season. Again, not the worst thing imaginable having Beauch fill in for 15 games or so but yikes.. I'd much rather have the younger, faster skater on the 3rd pairing than this aging pylon. In the grand scheme of things this should be the least of our problems. How the Ducks didn't pull the trigger on a top 6 FW baffles me and that's my main issue overall with this incredibly disappointing offseason.

Are the Angels technically in this? Yes. Are they really though? Come on... Even if by a miracle this team makes the playoffs. They're most likely going to get stomped by Houston. Anything can happen in baseball but looking at this team right now. They're no where close to being a contender. Mike Trout gives us a puncher's chance though.

Y2J has stated many times that he's not a part timer. If he's there, he's there for a long haul run.

Best case scenario is he's cleared to pitch and begins his long rehab. If by a miracle we're still in the WC hunt in August/September I think bringing him out of the bullpen could be huge. Our version of David Price in 08 for the Rays. Just let it fly, Rich. However, it might be his arm that flies.
