You could expand it too, to include Asdrubal Cabrera for 3B or 2B. Harvey + Cabrera for Bedrosian + prospect(s)?
You think they would be willing to move Cabrera? They are in the market for help at second base as well and seem to be looking to contend this year, I doubt they cough up Asdrubal unless the prospect haul is something out of the Angels comfort level.

Rangers, Mets Have Discussed Profar/Harvey Swap; Orioles Also Talking Harvey
I wouldn't mind kicking the tires on Harvey. A change of scenery might be good for him.
I would do Bedrock for Harvey straight up. I'm willing to admit that would probably be an unpopular move but I have a good feeling that Harvey is in for a bounce back campaign.

Not a fan myself, I will say he built his reputation on being "an outsider" for New York radio. Would loudly root against the Yankees at every turn as he is an outspoken Giants fan.

I am for it depending on the length and cost obviously. Can never have enough starting pitching depth, being able to have pitching to trade from and also having enough quality guys that can eat innings will avoid putting too much strain on the bullpen which was a big problem down the stretch last season.

He single handily lost the WS for the Dodgers but ok
Even more reason Angel fans should have a soft spot for him!

Am I reading that right? .260 avg and .267 obp??
.367 OBP for Suarez last year, definitely a career best for him.

Suarez is my favorite fit of everyone out there, will probably cost the most to get as well though. He’s the kind of guy who could end up sliding over to 2B if need be with his history at shortstop.

If Stanton goes to the Angels ... would you consider batting Trout at lead off?
Depending on who they get at 2B, on days where Ohtani is DH’ing I wouldn’t mind seeing him leadoff in front of Trout. Hitting in front of Trout is a nice way to see quality pitches.

Sucks that Stanton is going to the Dodgers but what can you do. He clearly wants to be there and ONLY there. Dodgers continue to be stacked
You’re doing the lords work here. It worked with Ohtani let’s see it happen one more time!

So, if we get this guy, we are guaranteed to pay approximately 22 million PLUS we have to negotiate a salary with him? Or is the ~2 point 2 million in international money his actual salary? If so, how long is the contract for?
He is under the age of 25 so he can only sign for the minimum.

Its a good feeling to look at a top 30 prospects list for the Angels and feel something other than abject sadness.

Only the Padres left unaccounted for now.

I just don’t see him signing with an NL team. Maybe he’s less committed to hitting than I’m anticipating but going to the NL means giving up on playing both ways long term I imagine.

Interesting that a city that has so many landmarks: the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Edgar Allan Poe's House, cheesesteaks...the landmark he most wants to see is a statue of a fictional movie character.
He probably does not know or care of any American history, but everyone has seen Rocky!

Being able to play with one of the best defensive catchers in the game and some dude named Mike Trout should be a pretty enticing option for him!
-
Being able to scrounge up that much pool money in a salary dump for a guy who is probably going to be a useful player for the Angels this year just seems like a big steal overall. Let us all enjoy these next three weeks where we can be overly excited about the idea of grabbing Ohtani.
-
Interesting he didn’t have any better offers especially after how good he was last year. The club option on the second year is surprising to me.

I don’t think I knew or remembered this.
Got a 51 game suspension for it in 2016, it has been kind of forgotten about it seems!

I'd rather have Jose Reyes at 6 million than Kinsler at 11. Reyes is a better defender, more versatile and doesn't say stupid crap or alienate his teammates nearly as often as Kinsler.
Reyes beat up his wife. I just don’t get how anyone could want to root for someone like that.

The fact that Gordon and Prado's deals both come off the books before any potential Trout extension would kick in makes those deals not unbearable to me. Personally I am rooting for it I think it would be a big boon for the franchise even with the potential detriments down the line.

I still think there's a good chance Angels land Stanton, Gordon, and Prado for Calhoun, a pitcher, and prospects.
I just have a gut feeling that this is something that has a legitimate chance of going down, it's a lot of money but it just seems to make too much sense in terms of filling what needs the Angels have and matches up with their timeline perfectly.
-
Makes sense, even with some of the luster off of him after seeing his swing in limited pro ball action how much of their 2018 pool would they have to dip into to sign him?
